How can I stop their passenger ships from picking up my citizens.

Post by Lonck »

RotS. I got a trade agreement with the females(surken or something), then I noticed their passenger ships picking up my citizens. I canceled the agreement and attacked their passenger ships. Relations went to furious, then with gifts I got it up to cautious, I then used editor to remove humans from their colonies. 5 mins later they get humans again. I did this 3 times and now I'm here.

Your population emigrate due to unhappiness.

In game you can build a space port and the recreation centre helps happiness.

Also aquire Luxury Goods via trade or warfare.

Also watch your war weariness.

Short of that I don't think you can stop emmigration.

You could always blast the passenger ships to space dust, but you might take a moral hit for that... :)

You'll stay on this planet and you'll like it! Now get back to building ships, peasant!

Won't the harsher population policies prevent population from leaving your empire?

Are they emigrating from your planets or just going to resort bases for holidays?

A good question (I'm curious about this myself). However, in this case, it's a moot point, as the OP doesn't have Legends yet.

Clearly it's time to build a giant wall in space to prevent your citizens from getting away! [;)]

An important thing to remember is that once your worlds reach appreciable numbers (1000M+) there is just no way in the universe that your passenger ships will be able to move people around faster than your people can reproduce.

Before that point, however, try not to have too big of a disparity in happiness between your money-making worlds and your growing worlds.

Also, Enslavement and Extermination lock the population down, as far as I know. They won't reproduce or go anywhere. If you have Penal Colonies checked, then all your worlds will set the undesirables to Resettle, and they'll (very slowly for large populations) shuffle off to your penal colonies while otherwise acting like normal citizens.

This means that if you want to reap the benefits of enslavement immediately, you should invade a well-populated world and set the policy to enslavement. If is much quicker than shuffling them off to your concentration ca--err, I mean Penal Colonies by way of Passenger Ships.

Guys I don't have Legends.  I don't have any passenger ships and I don't have resort bases.  Their passenger ships are picking up my citizens and transporting them to their colonies.  I thinks its more likely because I had a trade agreement and its probably a bug that even though I canceled the agreement they could still pick up my citizens.

Disregard this, since you just said you don't have legends and I apparently failed to notice. My dog, bad.

Ok so I started a new game and even though I have no relationship with the securan their passenger ships are still picking up my people.  I have everything on manual:  Policy settings and in the options.  Again their passenger ships are picking up my ppl from the capital and I have no passenger ships or resort bases.  Is it because the securan are humanoid so its hardcoded or something for them to just pick up my people?  Other wise I'll have to either restart and manually place non-humanoid AI to play against or declare war on the Securan.

I think the logic is that people will find a way to leave if they are unhappy. However, if you keep your taxes low on young worlds then you don't have anything to worry about. After a world reaches about 1500M souls, it should be large enough to keep growing no matter how much emigration you have.

The Securans specialize in happiness, so their planets are always going to be very appealing.

Either that or they're coming to kidnap your men for Snu-Snu.

Well my ppl aren't unhappy.  +22 is the lowest happiness.  +32 in capital which is where the passenger ships seem to be picking up passengers.  But its seems this is hardcoded/automatic and its annoying the hell outta me that I can't deny docking rights to foreign passenger ships.  I have started yet another game where none of the other empires are humanoid so we'll see if its a humanoid/securan thing.  Declaring war seems to be the only alternative, although it reduces reputation to attack passenger ships.  Very very irritating that I cannot deny docking rights to foreign passenger ships.  Very very annoying. C'est la vie I guess. Off to get Legends since it seems to have added this feature.

They might be happy by your standards, but in most of my games the Securans manage to keep a +55 or so Happiness on most of their worlds. If you have Securan neighbors, you will almost always lose some people to their Utopian Paradise. Like I said though, the loss is minimal. Keep your people happy and they'll still boom at around 300M people, and hit critical mass between 1000M and 1500M.

I'm a control freak and the idea of my peeps migrating is annoying.  I still need a deny docking rights to passenger ships feature.  Thnx for the info, though.
