Empire comparison screen

Post by nukkxx5058 »

It's a pity that the way the ranking is displayed doesn't keep track of evolution of empires. It would be much better to have a chart displaying the time on the "x" axis and the ranking on the "y" axis. This would allow to keep a track of each empire evolution across the time and to see who's declining, who's improving... Maybe in a next patch ?

In fact I mean something like that (pic below). Don't you think it would be much better to keep tracks of relative empires evolutions, improvements and decline ?

I recall MOO3 having it after the developers released the first and only official patch for the game. History Screen. You could select and view the demographics, number of planets, etc with regard to the game's timeline. Probably the only decent thing about that game. Was similiar in the form of the chart illustrated above.

Galactic Civilizations 2 had something similar as well if I am not mistaken that is. Good idea.

Yes, and I think that CIV 3 (?) also had a comparable feature. In MoO it was great to be able to look at Empire's performance over time. Being able to graphically remembering hard times and enjoying recoveries was an exciting feature of these games. But it represents quite a big change in the code (needs to archive all past values in the game's DB). But IMO not impossoble to deliver in a patch. Let's hope...

I approve this message. In fact, any and all improvements to empire comparison and trivia would be great.

One of the things I usually like about 4x games is that after it's all done, I can read through the comparison screens and ledgers and find it all incredibly interesting.

I also like this idea. GalCiv has something like this. In fact, it's incorporated directly into the UI, so you can stare at the military-strength graph as you make your decisions. I don't need that, but a graph to consult would be nice.

I also like the idea of a history graph of the relevant data, would be an awesome addition to the victory/defeat screen!

They have made good improvements to the victory condition screen in Legends. The race specific victory conditions inject more personality into the different races- and give them different things to aim for. I don't remember anything like that in MOO or GalCiv.

Anyways- I do like the idea. Just happy with the progress I'm already seeing. [:)]
