Repairing ships: takes very long?

Post by Peef »

I've found what seems to be an old fleet, so I assigned 2 contructions ships to repair the ships.

Both have been repairing a ship for several years now, I gues this isn't normal?

What can I do to speed up?

Thanks!

Add more factories (especially Energy and High-Tech) to your construction ships, I think it should help.
And improve Construction technology.

thx, gonna try that!

I was in my first game, and after half a day of play, I think I overdid a bit on the vastness of the game, gonna restart and make a smaller game to get the hang of it :)

When I take my fleets to Starbases for repairs, it does not take that long.
Also bases far away from supply take longer... for example, abandoned bases you have found can take longer.
Also if the number of ships enqueued are many, it could take awhile to even reach the repair port....

That does not help. You gain no additional benefit for repair or construction, past 1 of each type of factory and 1 yard.

None, zip, zilch, nada.

Kayoz, does improving your tech level in construction help?

I don't know. I haven't tested it.

I only tested repair time when repairing the same object with different construction ship configurations - multiple yards, factories, loaded with resources or not. I never tried comparing tech, as it generally isn't a factor in one's decision whether or not to repair something.

I usually play with debris fields off and haven't actually observed/tested speed with repair jobs but as far as base construction is concerned improving your construction yard technology (=speed) increases the speed that bases are constructed by constructors.  My assumption is/has been that it also improves the rate at which ships are repaired.  (The first increase is proportionately significant going from 2 components per six day period to 3.)

i haven't tested it in a long time, but i can confirm with kayoz that putting more than one construction yard on a constructor is completely pointless. each construction yard can only perform one task, they will not work together to accomplish a goal of building one station. and i am pretty sure even with more component factory's your still going to get bottle necked by the yards
