My concern is about the AI. The guy said that the game was developed mainly for multiplayer and implied that the AI wasn't that good. Is that the case?

Without violating the NDA I wouldn't take anything that guy says as gospel. He clearly doesn't even understand how to play the game.

That's incorrect. The AI is quite good and in fact at the Normal level we give it a slight handicap and scenarios are balanced so that if you want the decisive victory, you need to achieve the victory conditions three turns before the normal scenario end. With the full AI and playing within that shorter turn limit I find most of the scenarios very challenging single player.

RE: Lock'n Load Preview Video
Very excellent news! Too bad the video do half justice to game (that looks really good). Great user interface.
RE: Lock'n Load Preview Video
Bear in mind that this scenario is the first inside the German Campaign. I demonstrated this particular scenario because it's a very straight forward introduction to the game. Like I said, I've never played the board game so I decided to gradually introduce the series. The AI is very responsive in the stand alone scenarios I played as a test run, although bear in mind that defeats don't make good introductions.

I bear in mind![:)]

The game looks great. The next preview video really should stop with all the zoom in/out and shifting around so much, it is very distracting. I stopped watching after a few minutes. I'm just happy to know there's a working PC version in beta and the AI is challenging. Thanks!

+1...
I have high hopes for this game..if done right it could be the ASL of PC gaming..if we get loads of new maps..battles...theaters etc...A map maker would have been amazing..using the hex tiles..
My greatest concern is after release how long will it be before we see new expansions or even general support like patches etc...the length of time this has been in gestation I fear about it's support once released.
Someone else said to contract it out to someone else who can devote the time the game will need to turn it into the ultimate tactical wargame on the PC. Lets see what happens but if it does seem to take awhile I will back the idea for Mark to farm it out to another developer as a joint effort.

+2
ASL is a game that I never had the chance to play. I always preferred the strategical scale until a couple of years ago. The first tactical game I played was Memoir 44, but it bored me quite fast. Then I switched to Conflict of Heroes which has great qualities but the activation system never appealed to me. LnL's rules seem to a have good balance between realism and ease of use.
This is clearly a game I would play online.

Really...tactical has always been my thing. One reason I like memoirs of frontline troops or books with lots of first hand accounts in over the dry operational books like Glantz work..though I do read those aswell.
Honestly we haven't see a really good top down tactical game since Steel Panthers was released...how bad is that. There are some OK to good ones like Squad Battles, but they all have annoying mechanics or need more features to truly be the ASL of the PC.

I'm still a big fan of the strategical scale. My favorite game of all time is GG's World at War which I always saw as a natural evolution of the Axis & Allies boardgame. I got interested in tactical games when I wanted terrain features and unit position be a more important factor. And I was hooked precisely with Steel Panthers (winSPWW2, winSPMBT) that was just awesome. Unfortunately, I find the graphics just too old for the game to be enjoyable.
I'm confident with LnL. So far, it's the most promising game, although if you're a fan of ASL, not sure it will have its complexity.

I'm a tactical gamer.
I know a lot of the ASLers (some good friends), love its' complexity and rule porn, but I didn't.
What I liked about it, and what I think would translate well into a computer game, is its modular nature.
Endless scenarios with multiple nations. Endless unit and weapon types playing on interesting, linkable mapboards.
If the code can put this complexity under the hood and give me tactical battles that feel right, then I'm all in.
Although this game looks promising, I think I'll sit on the fence for a little while.
Long development, no editors, future content and updates?, and those cartoon story boards,...

RE: Lock'n Load Preview Video
For my own expectations, from what I saw and read (including the demo rulebook), LnL targets at the right spot with the scale, the quality of graphics and rules system. The role playing thing is kind of awkward though (to say the least), but I don't think it's gonna be a game breaker. I cross my fingers. If it's good and sells well, I too hope there will be more development. There a lot of potential.
