PATCH 4

Command Ops: Battles From The Bulge takes the highly acclaimed Airborne Assault engine back to the West Front for the crucial engagements during the Ardennes Offensive. Test your command skills in the fiery crucible of Airborne Assault’s “pausable continuous time” uber-realistic game engine. It's up to you to develop the strategy, issue the orders, set the pace, and try to win the laurels of victory in the cold, shadowy Ardennes.
Command Ops: Highway to the Reich brings us to the setting of one of the most epic and controversial battles of World War II: Operation Market-Garden, covering every major engagement along Hell’s Highway, from the surprise capture of Joe’s Bridge by the Irish Guards a week before the offensive to the final battles on “The Island” south of Arnhem.

When's the final of patch 4 going to arrive, Dave - any idea? Some fixes there - the damned arty thing, for example - are awaited!

Well sometimes you can be lucky. Andrew just emailed me to say that he has finished the installer and uploaded it for us now to do a test just to make sure before releasing a final. And sometimes you can be unlucky. Our server here has been attacked and hijacked. The virus or whatever malware it is has used up our entire month's download allowance and we are now on slow mo internet speed. So I have asked the beta testers to help out and test it for me. So I reckon it will be another couple of days.

I took a look at the surrender issue raised by Daz et al on this thread:
tm.asp?m=3306399
and decided it should be fixed for the patch. It is important. So I have asked Matrix to hold the presses until I get a replacement build out tomorrow.

Good news and bad news. First the bad news. Our server box was hijacked last about two weeks ago by some file sharing software that we could not locate nor our local computer tech experts could locate. In the end we had to reformat and rebuild our server. Trust me no one does this lightly. But this virus used up our entire months download allowance in three days and so we ended up on a shaped plan. It was having a real adverse impact on our ability to function. So we bit the bullet. Trouble is we have encountered some difficulties installing the latest version of Subversion, our source control software. Right now I am waiting on Paul to ring me so we can have another go at it.

What it has meant is that I was unable to put out a new build for the Patch #4. However, I did take the time to play Gamble and Scramble from the upcoming Greek pack. Whilst doing so I encountered a problem with an attack being called off prematurely. I had ordered one of the Australian Inf Bdes to move with attack option checked. It duly encountered an enemy and its lead Bn put in an attack. As soon as the lead company got to its objective the attack got called of and the Bde replanned continuing the move. trouble is that the other three assaulting companies were not even close to their objectives.

So here's the good news I have spend the last six hours getting to the source of the problem. Or should I say sources. For there were a number of issues that were due to assuming that the attack subject would be in the assault. I thought I had stamped all of these out but obviously I had overlooked these. Anyway, now it is working well. The Bde waits for the Bn HQ who waits for the assault subject who waits for a majority of his fellow assaulters to reach their objectives before rescheduling and then, wait for it...., it actually does a final reorg. So I regard that as a win and it proves once again that there is usually a silver lining to every dark cloud that crosses your path.

The change will now be in the patch. [:)]
