In the manual it says that in regards to Japanese fuel/supply production that any producing base (Nagoya, Tokyo, Osaka etc.)
that starts the turn with less than 4,000 fuel pts. will gain 4,000 fuel pts. if oil reserve > 4,000. At a cost of 1,000 from the Oil Reserve. The same applied for Supply production except if base supply < 10,000 gain 10,000 if resource reserve > 1,000. At a cost of 1,000 from the resource reserve. My question is this;
Is this system still in place or has it been ratified in some other version. With all the updates it's kinda hard to keep up with some of the game systems. I ask because in playing with the 3.2 version the Supply/Fuel production system does seem "QUITE" different, at least for the Japs anyway. Haven't really checked it with the Allies yet. In any case, although the massive amounts of "patched" versions do make some of the game rules/systems hard to keep up with, It's a small price to pay for the killer updates! It's my opinion that 3.2 is the best yet!! One more quick question, anyone got a good strategy on getting rid of those damned Allied subs, man those things are a nuisance!!, and severly detrimental to merchant health.

I haven't played 3.X from the Japanese side yet, but I can tell you that 1) It's easier for the Japanese to keep their oil levels up, 2) The consequences of a low National Oil Reserve are not as severe. By isolating Palembang with AZOC's, I reduced the Oil Reserve to below 2000 units for over five months. This should have caused the entire Japanese economy to collapse. Instead, it actually expanded, reading from the Industry Points on the score window.

As for Allied submarines, the most important thing is to use your Patrol aircraft effectively. It is a problem, because you also want Patrol squadrons on the front lines--they help with air combat, and in spotting enemy TF's. But the best place for them is covering the areas between Dutch Indonesia and Japan.

Also, make sure you have plenty of escort vessels in Nagoya--that's where the Routine Convoys are formed. Lastly, submarines are more effective when the distance from their patrol area to their base is smaller. That's why you want to capture even the less important bases in the Phillipines, Wake, and even Midway.
