The SC's PC's etc. come in with daytime experience in the 40's and low 50's.

By just cruising around friendly waters a couple weeks you can
get the experience up to 55. This is alot like the 'training'
command for air groups.

You have to remained undocked at the end of the turn to have the chance of increasing your experience.

Or do what I do: place them on behind-the-lines escort duty, with a DD TF ready to pounce on any subs appearing.

They are cannon fodder until their skills come up ... gotta be very careful when terming behind the lines ... my subs generally spend most of their life BEHIND the lines :D

Best racing them around in very small single ship TF's out in the middle of nowhere with a tanker nearby for refueling purposes. Sending them around in the area where ports are is just giving added xp to sub captains.

Testing things, 7 USA SC vs single sub, the sub won at starting skill levels for the SC :D

Seems the best place for these runs is well EAST of Noumea.

Just remember that SCs are still "throw aways". At only 1vp each, you can trade 10 of them for a single 11vp IJN sub, and you're STILL ahead.

Granted, you don't want to lose TOO many of them, because the big advantage of the multitude of USN SCs, is that having so many of them frees up your DDs for fun things like shooting at IJN bases and shooting at IJN ships.

SC Experience

Post by Philwd »

Best way I've found to get SC experience up is to use them as AK escorts on supply runs to Luganville or Efate. Exp should get >50 in about a month. Seems to work much better than shakedown cruises.

Those SCs have that nasty little "mousetrap" thingy. Once the expericene level get ups they can be hurt.
