Paratroop question.

Post by stormbringer3 »

In the A-A Campaign I am currently in the Smolensk 1941 scenario. I purchased a Paratroop unit and I moved it to the Luftwaffe Airfield. On subsequent turns the Paratroop feature is never enabled. The manual does state that in many maps that this feature is blocked. Is there any way to know which ones in advance? I hope that you don't have to move the unit to an airfield every scenario to see if it will function. Perhaps because of the feature being blocked in many maps a Paratroop unit isn't worth it?
Thanks for any help.

Good question, I am actually not sure which scenarios have air transport or paradrop capabilities enabled. I'll refer Ronald to this thread.

Yeah, this is a thing I've also noticed in the beta, paratroops are nearly useless, also because there mostly are no additional airfields available on the maps, so that the tactics possible in Panzer General or Panzer Corps (use paratroopers to weaken defenses from behind before your advancing troops arrive) are impossible. I've actually never managed to use them on any scenario in the campaign after noticing I that can't use them properly. Another thing that's broken in my opinion is the extended/operational movement option via rail. Haven't managed to rail any troops yet.
EDIT:
I think paradrop capabilities should be noted in every mission briefing, like the notes about airfield that already are in some mission briefings.

I agree, we should note when paratroops will be useful. I'll ask Ronald to chime in on this as well.

Hello,

we will add remarks for paratroops/airtransports to avoid wrong investments of resources.

In addition we will add the feature to maps where the Germans start with an airfield.

Also, I think every map should have at least one airfield.
The maps are large enough to warrant this.
