Does something like an external terrain height visualization tool exist?

Command Ops: Battles From The Bulge takes the highly acclaimed Airborne Assault engine back to the West Front for the crucial engagements during the Ardennes Offensive. Test your command skills in the fiery crucible of Airborne Assault’s “pausable continuous time” uber-realistic game engine. It's up to you to develop the strategy, issue the orders, set the pace, and try to win the laurels of victory in the cold, shadowy Ardennes.
Command Ops: Highway to the Reich brings us to the setting of one of the most epic and controversial battles of World War II: Operation Market-Garden, covering every major engagement along Hell’s Highway, from the surprise capture of Joe’s Bridge by the Irish Guards a week before the offensive to the final battles on “The Island” south of Arnhem.

Does something like an external terrain height visualization tool exist?

I recall reading a post somewhere in here about this, but for the life of me cannot recall if that was a "no go" or a "go, check here"...

Does something like that exist?

Yes the LOS tool has a terrain visualization aid attached to it.

See here for my improved version

....if only I was a Modder [:'(]

The orientation of it was fixed in a patch a while back though so that was a big help.

Nice idea Daz!

If however an external tool could load up a CO map and display it 3d according to the layers, that would be fantastic...

How did you do those "3d" images in some of your AARs? Were they from maps outside of the game (say Google Earth)?

Yes I made them by overlaying the map from the game, onto Google Earth, just as in the tour that was done by The Plodder.
Then I used Photoshop to add the movement, and attack arrows, and other overlay info.
