Close Combat: Gateway to Caen is the latest release in the critically-acclaimed Close Combat series and focuses on the largest, concentrated British offensive since the Normandy landings in an attempt to penetrate the German lines west of Caen and cross the Odon River to get the stalled advance moving again.
TIK,
Thanks for your comments in your "My video response." The point about the edges of craters overlapping slightly on buildings, hedges, etc--it's a minor, occasional, graphic limitation of all previous cc releases where the terrain file overlays the map.
Regarding the new explosion effects--they are even better in action, and the still images only give a hint of what they're about.
Thanks for the info, Cathartes. Yeah, I wondered if it was the old engine rather than GWTC specific. It's only a minor thing luckily.
Also, I missed those other screens on Slitherine forums, so thanks for pointing them out. I'm liking the look of the Strat map. Will have to make another video to update my subs.
@Matrix/Slitherine: Why the two forums!? [:@]
I have a Youtube Channel that features Close Combat and Panzer Corps Let's Plays and videos, as well as historical documentaries.
love the explosions. good job cathartes. hoping you guys have figured out a way to fix the way we pick our active roster or at least added support weapons to the inf squads.
Map and vehicles look great! Textures, buildings, hedges, trees ... everything is superb!
Congrats to your fine work.
Happy New Year, and best success for your project
Wow -- haven't even looked at CC for some years now (though I did buy the new games!). This looks great. Great to see Cathartes still hard at work. Way to go with the special effects, too. How many other wargames, or even computer games in general, are still going as long as these have? Of course this would not have happened without such talented artists and coders and other savvy people.
