There will be 3 attacks this impulse:

- Yugoslavia
- Bilbao
- Madrid

The Yugoslav attacks is conducted first. Its a 2:1 +1 on the Assault Table....

.... 9(10) Good dice on a 2:1! Both Yugoslav units are destroyed, although this comes at the cost of disorganisation for the Axis. Hey kids - if you want to know how not to conduct a Yugoslav campaign from both the Allies and the Axis point of view, then here it is [8|]

Next to Madrid. This is a 5:1 no modifiers on the Assault Table.....

.....10! Well the Axis were unlucky with the weather in the last impulse but that really helps the situation.

That leaves the rather pointlessly risky attack on Bilbao against the lone figure of General Gort. The odds - thanks to a huge smattering of 8, 14 and 15-inch naval gunfire support - is 2:1 no modifiers on the Assault Table (although Fractional Odds take this to 3:1)...

...3 Ouch. The Germans lose the 3rd Infantry Division and General Gort and his Infantry Corps survive.

The Axis get to go first so have the opportunity of finishing off Gort. I do not see any reason not to let the Spanish units north of Madrid simply wither on the vine as the German spearheads make for Gibraltar.

As they are out of supply it does make sense to try and flip them - and one Stuka is set aside for the purpose. There are also two ground strikes against Belgrade.

Well, what do you know? The Italians - in a masterly display of dice-rolling - dealt with the Yugoslavs all by themselves, meaning the Stuka mission was something of a waste...

Meanwhile the 6-strength Stuka attacking Franco and co has only a 50% success rate. There will be a lot of crowing in the Palazzio Venezia tonight.....

Don't tell Extraneous but I have ordered Gort to support himself [;)] (this fails on a throw of 9) - Rommel intends to support the attack on Belgrade (which succeeds on a throw of 1).

Axis aircraft are flown in support of both the Bilbao and Belgrade attacks.

And so to the first attack:

China. Its a 4:1 no modifiers on the Assault Table...

...the Japanese are throwing high (and have been all game) - its a 9. The path to a, lightly defended, Wuhan is now open.

To Bilbao now, and its a 3:1 no modifiers on the Assault Table(Fractional Odds make 4:1).....

...8. Who needs to rely on Fractional Odds with these dice? Gort is destroyed....

And finally to Belgrade - its a 5:1 +2 on the Assault Table....

...its a 1! The Yugoslavs lose just one unit and all attackers are disorganised. Belgrade survives!

The Royal Navy and French Navy put to sea in the Bay of Biscay and Western Med. Stupidly I have put no NGS in the Cape St Vincent area [:@]

In choosing a combined for the CW I have totally and utterly compromised the CW defence. I have too few naval moves to do what I want - and more importantly, I cannot move sufficient land units... Really dumb.

I have had to move back from the Guadalquivir as a result of this stupid play.

The Germans have to spend the turn moving units into position to attack the British and Canadian forces in the approaches to Gibraltar.

This just leaves one attack - against Wuhan - this impulse.

Its a 5:1 no modifiers on the Assault Table (and Fractional Odds bring it up to 7:1)....

....its a 1! The Chinese lose an infantry army wile the Japanese have an unenviable choice to make - they choose to lose a Mech division. Bad, bad impulse....

Why didn't the Japanese use their engineers combat bonus against Wuhan? If the had, they would have taken the city and not lost any units, although they would be completely disorganized.
I thought I knew how to play this game....
