Turn Number and Sequence

Post by jivemi »

Greetings TOAW fans, newbie here. Played three intro scenarios and then the classical Operation Crusader '41. Got two questions about turns:

1) Crusader '41 supposedly has 17 turns, but the battle didn't end until turn 20. Does the AI allow extra turns if objectives are disputed, or is there some other reason the scenario was extended?

2) A few times during the course of play one side got two turns in succession. This happened in Tannenberg once or twice, and in Crusader several times for both players. There's a thread going back to 2006 concerning this, so apparently this is an old "issue" in solo play. Is there anything a solo player can do about it?

Thanks for your kind attention.

1. See 5.1 in the manual: Scenario Variability. This is a game option and can be turned off.

2. See 10.1 in the manual: Variable Initiative. This always applies to games against the PO and can't be turned off.

Read the fine manual.
I read somewhere that humans eat more bananas than monkeys and I believe it's true because I don't remember the last time I ate a monkey.

Variable Initiative - Note that if you really don't like this feature, you can start a scenario in Hot Seat Mode, and when the scenario starts use the 'Play' drop down menu to choose a side for the computer to play. This will turn off the initiative switches. Check the scenario briefing first to make sure that the designer doesn't mind you doing this [which is rare].
