WAR in teh PACIFIC 1.8.0.6; what happend¡
it was the year 2004 when i bought my WAR IN THE PACIFIC; and i enjoyed since today; so i decided to buy a new one WAR in the pacific in 2015; and what a surprise¡..There is no bombers and fighters (remenber that in first versión it was well reinforced) in the área of DIAMNOND HARBOUR to prevent an invasión of INDIA; it seems to easy to conquer india (against the AI); so the question that i would like to know is; if is this versión (1.8.0.6)is easer for japan player tan it was originaly; what are the opinions..(seems that no british air-forcé can stop an invasión of india), you dont need the KB to land at diamond harbour¡¡

Did you buy the Admiral's Edition? You said you just bought a new copy.
The AI and scenarios were heavily reworked. The game engine got a lot of work too with many new features.
There is a separate forum for AE, which is much more active than this one.

yes; this will be my next adqusicion (the admiral edition), even if is a MOD of WITP (planes and maps are a mod of one of the oldest player of WITP, probably taken with permission for erik or bill)(several great mods came out for witp in the old times); but can you tell me; one question WDOLSON; if the versión 1.8.06 has an agressive AI? as it has the versión 1.0 (the first one). or did you put it easer de AI?
Why did you take planes out of india; (and out of MANCHUKUO) is still historical the versión 1.8.06???
also my garrison at manchukuo is below 8000 and RUSSIA didnt declare war on Japan¡

I was involved in the development of AE, but not the original WitP. A couple of people did take over the code for the last couple of patches. I don't know exactly what they did, but I don't think the AI was altered at all. I haven't played the original WitP in years though.
In AE the AI has external files and the main scenarios have multiple possible AI scripts. Which AI is played is chosen at random when the game starts. The scripts range from close to historical to very aggressive. AE makes quite a few improvements on the original game.
When the garrison in Manchuko drops below the threshold, it causes a random check each turn. The Soviets will activate eventually.

At least in the original War in the Pacific, I thought the Soviet activation could not occur if the Japanese is played by the AI?

I think Vigan in India is an easy place to invade. The port is small (so unloading takes a long time) but there are no troops and no planes.
I think the only change in the patches was to ensure USAAF planes arriving after March 1942 arrive in Karachi, not Los Angeles, but that should make more Allied air planes in India, not less.

well, what i am telling its that this last versión 1.8.0.6 put strong fighters (warwak)and chinesse bomber to protect diamond harbour; ..but still you can conquer india¡ and destroy the bristish forces, wich makes the game fun against the AI.

I thought the Soviets could auto-activate against the Japanese AI in the original WitP, I don't know for sure if it does or not at this point. I know they won't activate with a Japanese AI in AE. This was done to allow the AI to be more competitive than the original.

The original WITP against the AI allow Russia to declare war on Japan (i can tell you; it happend many times too me)
But this versión (1.8.0.6) is still not declared war on japan; and i have withdraw from Manchukuo 5 divisons and several ingenieer units; my score of the garrison is 7234 points below; of the 8000 required at Mnachukuo; i am going to withdraw more units and see if finally Russias declare war on Japan, its 16/4/1942..Kendari is conquered but the Russians dont want to declare war¡

I've found that the Allied player needs to take steps to defend India. Moving the AVG to Dacca helps. It is possible to move some Chinese divisions into India. Also consider sending Australian and American troops.

good news¡ is july 1942 and finally the russians declare WAR on japan; the problem with the game is the automatic victory conditions, i almost rich the 4 to 1 scored, i have 18.896 points and the allys had 5378 points (at the end of july 1942); does everyone knows if there is a pacth that avoid the automatic victory conditions? ( i have Heard something about. and i really wanted to conquer KARACHI and Pearl Harbour (both) in this macht..i will¡

I suppose it's the designers' version of the mercy rule in baseball. If it's too easy the game ends. Of course, you could always look for a PBEM which would be harder, but also would not necessarily have the automatic victory result.

of course a PBME is harder,(played since 2005) always as japan; but i dont play more PBME because the allied players want strange house rules ( i mean, they dont only want to win; wich is normal; if you are experience player but they want not to loosse just a single CV; and thats not posible..but i want to tell you one thing about PBME playing as allied, YOU JUST CAN SINK THE ENTIRE JAPAN NAVY with 100 PTs boats (you dont need 200).... thats the problem of playing this Great game, and i supposse is the admiral edition.

BILL; i hope thats true; because finally PEARL-HARBOUR falls in JAPAN hands (400.000 japan forces against 125.000 usa, reducing from bombardement to 90.000) in 6/4/1943, and i have to tell you that i had to sink 90 PTS BOATS, plus 80 corsairs (air to air)
well this last versión is incredible aggressive, cangrats Matrix¡, i enjoy taking KARACHI (i still holding) and Pearl harbour at 6/4/43; now i am goint to take sevastopol (is important to declare war on russia to conquer the oil of OKHA) and los Angeles, then i will finish with this war on the pacific (sttrruggle) and finally as Bill recomended by THE ADMIRAL EDITION and compare what are better.

After conquering Karachi and Pearl Harbour, the next step was Sevastopol and Uglahamensk;(ist incredible how much oil produces OKHA) and right now i am route to Los angeles with the oppostion of 2CV, 2 CVL and 5 Cve allied.. (once conquered) to bombard San francisco.
The AI seems to be very agressive and try always to pretend air to air combats to kill the expierence pilots; the AI retake PORT MORESBY wich was and interesting move.

ROAD to San diego and LOS Angeles; to see how the AI deal with 17 japan CVS , with JAKS and A6M3a on board...japan inteligence confirm that there are 2 CVs-2Cvls and 5 CVE Left-(the rest is deep in the pacific) defending San francisco..lets see the AI¡ and thouse corsairs DEFENDING THE COAST by the AI.

64 corsairs shout down air to air at the skys of California from my experience pilots of my carriers (over 92 experience)
