[Modding-Resources] Warhammer 40k, Star Wars, Starcraft

Post by Japhet »

A colletion of ship and troop images from various sci-fi franchises I sto...collected, edited and/or created over the past months. So far, only Warhammer, Starcraft and Star Wars. Stuff for Star Trek, Halo, Babylon 5 & Stargate will follow, someday (I've them stored, but I'm to lazy/burned out to finish them at the moment).

Feel free to use them for your modding endeavours, no need to ask for permission.

Warhammer 40000
In the last few month, I've tried to redesign some already existing ship images for Mensreas 40K/30k mod. I wasn't very sucessfull due my limited artistic skills, nevertheless, I've managed to redo almost all imperial war ships (except grand cruisers & most battleships) and some smaller ork craft. I also split the larger ships into different parts: hull, prow, weapons, etc., so you can basically create your own ship classes.

I'm afraid I will probably never finish what I've started, however, I thought I should share the ships with you, maybe someone else can make use of them. Below are the links for the ships and the other 40k stuff I did for mensreas mod. Hope you like it.

Star Wars
Mostly Empire ships, but also some rebell stuff and very few CIS.

Starcraft
Terrans, Protoss & Zerg. No bases, but all kind of ships & troops.

You wouldn't happen to know where I could find some.... squats? [;)]

Some ground troops would be fine, I don't even know if they used different ships in canon. There are so many different Imperial ships I could just give them a different type.

Well, the Squats are dead, eaten by the Tyranids. So, no. I guess you could find some pics of very old squat miniatures and art work from the first & second edition of 40k, but thats pretty much it. No ships though.

The demiurg are pretty much their replacement.

The Forgefathers from Warpath are a good substitute for Squats:

I have built a simple little command-line tool to move blocks-of-rows up and down.

So if you need to add a blank line in your tech tree - so you can add another line of lasers or whatever, you can use this tool to shift everything past that point down one row (or down 5 rows, or however much you need).

Not drag & drop, but beats the living hell out of manually editing the tech file by hand.

Updated the OP.

The issue isn't even the actual editing, but planning the different tech trees I had in mind. Unique tech trees for Humans, Eldar, Necrons, Tranids & Xenos are quite time consuming.

Shadows on the ship images. Most images are from 3D model images made with added shadows by the creators. Distorts them and makes it look a bit out of place in-game.

Nah, I didn't pay attention to this. For a brief moment, I thought you were refering to the shadow ships from B5, lol!

Will you be adding campaign ships from Starcraft or are you just taking them from that one daviant art page I took mine, which doesn't have them?

The pics are indeed from deviant art and some other sources I can't remenber. I never played starcraft 2 myself, so I don't exactly know the campaign ships, but the gorgon and the pirate capital ship from HotS are included.

No, go ahead.
I wanted to update the starcraft pack with new ship images, but for some reason mediafire deceided to glitch out, which means I cannot upload stuff at the moment. [:@]

Edit: StarCraft link restored. Enjoy!
