Hi,

Is it possible to rescale the game to 1km per hex and battalion units as the default?

1) So in the Map Editor would I set the pixels per hex, scale so that there are 128 pixels per hex?

2) In the data files construct single formations made up of all the squads, vehicles and such and that would constitute a single battalion?

Forget the wisdom of it, just regard me as weird ;).. would the game engine work, the system work...? Off the top of your heads are there any particular traps that I should lookout for?

I'm not entirely sure about the scale bit - I haven't looked through all of the mod guides yet.

The battalion part is very doable - you're just putting all of the subunits into a single unit rather than spreading them to companies and platoons.

There's a unit stacking limit in each nation's settings, would probably need to increase that to work with the larger units.

Thanks... yup.. by carefully going through the data files I found I slowly got a feel for them.. Mod guide helped too..
Hopefully one of the powers that be around here will pop in and answer the map scaling question.. May not be doable.. If time would like to crank out a WWII Eastern Front map and data file. But one scale up would be fun.

Modding the stacking limit is straight forward (national tab of the user data sheet)

You could I suppose reduce weapon range and unit speed by 50%, rather than increase the pixels per hex you'd need to 'zoom' the map to 200% of the normal size so that each 64piel hex covers 1km. This would give the impression of 1km hex warfare.

You can't mod the game engine though so any engagement range notifications will still be in 500m hex range, and saturation fire effect will be covering 3km area rather than the 1.5km area, I'm sure there will be other things that would look 'odd' as well

Hopefully the scale are added to the map with 2.1.

Thanks.. yes...I was thinking of reducing ranges and speeds.. it would be new units anyway.. but as you say there would no doubt be the odd ambush for my new scale still in the system..
