BrianG v TDV (tdv ok for now)

Post by BrianG »

I am in the middle of a fierce relentless out of control game with TDV.

It's fun.

Here is his first turn south. He is GHC.

He has a very good turn 1. He cares not for his flanks but knows very well how to protect territory with proper strength zoc.

We are playing 1 air attack on solo hq per turn , and one attack per airbase per turn.

No amphib (west of and time rule) plus and I think no airdrop.

This game started in Dec 2014.

ON turn 8 he cut down south behind me. This became a duel struggle for a few turns with me cutting off as best I could this force. And getting my guys out.

turn 17

Post by BrianG »

I skip ahead as I did not take a lot of pictures of the early action.

Maybe because it was iffy If I would survive.

And btw we are playing VC 260

and non random weather,

He was active into the Crimea. This also became a duel struggle with long mp's and recut off. I lost a morale 61 Cav down here to surrender.

17 east Moscow

Post by BrianG »

I can't believe how far East he pushed me. I lost plenty of production and Arm. I have not divulged to him the extent of the damage.

He took Yaraslov. I conceded I should have been shot a few times for poor play. But TDV is very adept and really knows what he can do.

Good lord man, that is one bloody game. Can't believe how far east he is and also how small the Soviet Army is....

From the look of the MP's, is it middle of SHC T17 in the last screen? Trying to figure out why you didn't cut off the spearheads there with the CAV/INF units...if mud hit next he'd be screwed.

I think the last one may be beginning of 17. That cav may not have had enough mp to do that block. Or it may have blocked but can't recall now.

He has been cut off many time in various spots. And the mp sometimes are really stretched.

Well, actually, me too!

I bet. The Axis must be getting ready to invade Manchuria by now. [;)]

Be curious to hear how the winter counteroffensive went and if he pulled back to consolidate at all before. You're stretched for sure, but man so is he....

think this game shows the problem of non-random weather so the German player can plan risky moves with complete certainty. Also judging by the location of the airbases in the screen shots, a substantial use of the rather generous ability to air lift fuel and supplies.

Having said that he's clearly gambling on an early win because if he gets caught out I suspect he could lose an awful lot of units in the winter

What he is doing will not be possible under .05 as the fuel lifts have been nerfed.

His Russian tactics don't work any more because of patches and his German tactics will be the threads of yester year.

Having said that over committing to Leningrad and Stalino Metro area leave Moscow for easy picking.

Also if this is a PBEM it should not be looked at as a trend as I and a few others have posted data on this long ago.

As Pelton said, these game anomalies, when air units could supply an entire front, had gone. Right now it's not possible to reach such a russian deep territory, and don't care about the flanks.

And 1.08.05. will slow down musch more.
