The mines have finally been cleared in Singers. I will organize those units and swing north with the four CV KB. Before I do I will get some LBA at Victoria Point. Rio has a unit that keeps moving in and out of that hex trying to decide what to do. I'll decide for him in a little bit.
I landed at Manado this turn and will set-up some Bettys to interlock with Davao.
His subs at Wakkanai-Toyohara are starting to shoot at my DDs and SCs. I have more PBs on the way to replace the DDs as I don't want him to get a DD by accident.
It looks like he may take a stand at Sian. He has thirty-seven units there with eight more due in shortly. If he stays it will be a hell-off-a battle. I will post a screen-shot when I get a little closer.
As I mentioned earlier, I am pulling out of the Marshal ls. I was negligent in checking the “Ground Unit Reinforcement Arrival Schedule” and three more units “popped-up” on the atolls so I had to send more ships for them. I had them all rounded-up when one of my subs showed-up at Kwajalein with fifty+ system damage. So I dumped the three units on Kwajalein since they all have naval support. The two ASs were still in the area so they are there also.
Lesson learned, check the “Ground Unit Reinforcement Arrival Schedule” more often although it is a nice surprise when something like this shows up in Tracker when you were not expecting it.
39 … LCU .... 2nd Raiding Regiment ... LCU arrived
39 … LCU .... 38th AA Machine cannon ... LCU arrived
39 … LCU .... 39th AA Machine cannon ... LCU arrived

Nothing worth reporting

This is ALMOST funny. I'm sure Rio will get a kick out of it when he reads this. This AV was in the fan shown in the screen-shot (where the Allied sub is) and set to 100% ASW. The small fan consists of sixty Vals. The problem I suspect is inexperienced pilots.

My third sub down.

Japanese forces CAPTURE Balikpapan !!!
Japanese forces CAPTURE Victoria Point !!!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sian is getting interesting.
Screen-shot below. Rio moved thirty-seven units into Sian about three days ago and I thought he was finally going to make a stand. From the hex south of Sian I had started moving two divisions and a regiment to the west and then one of those divisions would move north and we would have him completely surrounded. This would have taken another ten to twelve days through the heavily wooded hex.
Then on this day up-popped a movement arrow. My division to the north would have been a speed-bump so I decided to go into Sian.

My third sub down.

Let me take Sian first and then I will get right to it.
Seriously, I probably will bomb Chungking but he may be leaving most of the rest unoccupied. I am starting to move in the south so we will see.

Elsewhere in China
As discussed before, I was pretty sure that Rio would bug-out of China and I wanted to prevent as many units as possible from doing so. On day one I started moving units north out of Haiphong and Hanoi to Kunming and I started moving units to Haiphong and Hanoi to reinforce these units once they reached Kunming.
At Hanoi I have an Oscar sentai ready to move to Kunming along with a Topsy unit to move aviation support and a recon unit. There is a Command HQ with a command radius of nine. In Haiphong I have all five para units, a regiment, a division and engineers along with five Tinas, Topsy, and Thalia air groups. I have about 70 k of supplies stock-piled.
On Feb 11 we moved into Kunming with ~480 AV to find an empty city. So once again Rio has provided me unmolested HI, LI and resources although my troops marching across the runway managed to do seventy-eight percent damage.
I will march on to Tsuyung.

The un-even exchange is continuing in Batavia where no matter what I do I lose troops and no matter what Rio does I lose troops. More fodder is on the way.
We captured Samarinda, Temuloh, Kuala Lumpur, Cotabato, Benkoelen, and Jesselton.
In Malaya everything is captured except Georgetown and one group of four wandering, very beat-up units. I am starting to move on the remaining bases on Sumatra. I have a division arriving at CRB in two days and I will move it to northern Java and along with some armor, move-on down. I have all of Mindanao and will start moving-up towards the P.I. I have most of the east coast of Sarawak/Borneo and will take the west coast when I get far enough down on Java to cover.
I have Bettys, Oscars and some recon at Victoria Point with aviation and naval support. I have Oscars and Sallys in Chang Mai and Bangkok. With a couple of more bomber groups, these will be my aviation support for the invasion of Burma. I am not bringing any carriers along.
All of my carriers TFs except two are in port stripped of all ships except the carriers themselves and some DDs.
I am building-up some forts on the HI and have engineers, aviation support and supply landing on the Kuriles to start building them-up. I have decided that I am not going to Adak. I am investing a lot on Hachijo-jima and Chichi-jima both with Zeros, Bettys and recon.

What's up with Batavia?
Hi Pax, thanks for dropping by.
I hope that I do not come-off as complaining as I am not.
When I say fiasco, I am referring to one of my own doing and I am a little frustrated with my own lack of experience.
I did not bombard because I didn't want to destroy any factories but I think that is OK. I did not bring enough forces due to my poor reconing. And now I am running a little low on supplies so even though I think I now have enough AV there, I'm holding of until more supplies arrive. He is slowly wearing down and I am slowly building-up, about 600 to 330 now.
I have the other one-third of the division that is attacking there arriving soon, as it just finished elsewhere. As well, another recently arrived on-the-map division on the way. These are not necessarily for Batavia but for moving on down south but will move through Batavia if necessary.
From your experience, how much should I plan to use for taking Soerabaja from the land-side assuming he will not reinforce?
Thanks

Depends upon your forces and his. If it is only Dutch forces and your ID's are high experience and prepped, you do it with as little as 2 ID plus 2 ARM bde.
That still allows you to cycle them, keep them fresh, and update their prep. I'm going here that you aren't going to bombard to save oil centers.
You'll need some additional forces to garrison and prevent any maneuver against you.
Dutch forces are low EXP, low morale, and their best commanders are just ok. Blitzkreig the bases you want ASAP. Time is on their side as they gain exp/morale daily.
Caveat: even one Ozzie bde can really ruin your day with this plan.
So while I think this can work, I don't do it. I bring my BIG hammer. I never trust my opponent, even the AI, with bases that I need to survive. DEI is a must have area.
So, I use bombardments (sea/air/arty) and then hit hard. That's me though.
