I can only send bombers, why?

Post by SchDerGrosse »

Hello there,

quick air force related question from a WitE newbie.

During my GC against the soviet AI I have noticed there are many times when I can only send bombers unescorted, despite the fact that for example its turn 1 and I should have tons of FTRs ready to aid my bombers. (no miles flown, in range etc.)

After a few attacks, my FTRs "awake" and I'am able to select a few and send them over with the bombers.

If I left click only, the AI sometimes sends escort, sometimes doesnt..

Could someone enlighten me?

(tried to show you some pictures but the forum doesnt allow me post links.. bah..)

Are the fighters in range of the targets you're attacking? If I remember right, you don't have fighter cover when you attack targets in the red zones (not red target hexes).

Yes, they are in range.

The system should work like this, right? :

1. I click on the bomb airfield button.
2. I chose an eligible airfield -> red means out of range, grey means in range, but without escort, beyond that is in range and can be escorted.
3. If I dont pick any of my units shift right clicking should bring up the list of ALL the units in range, from which I can hand pick the ones Id like to participate.

In my game (for ex, GC, axis, turn 1, the very 1st thing I do is AF bombing after a few recon missions) if

1. I right click on the nearest soviet airfield, the AI sometimes sends escorts, sometimes doesnt.
2. If I shift + right click on it I have a list of ONLY bombers from which I can chose.
3. If I pre-select an arfield containing my fighters, THEN I shift right click on the target, now I will finally have FTRs in the list so I can escort my bombers... [:(]

Would be much more easier if i could post pictures...
