[RESOLVED] The Fast and the Furious...

Command: Northern Inferno is a DLC for Command: Modern Operations. Set in 1975, the Cold War is omnipresent and beneath the veneer of détente the tension between the two superpowers irreversibly escalate towards the ultimate confrontation.

[RESOLVED] The Fast and the Furious...

Post by Majick »

I've just finished my second attaempt at this scenario. I sank all the soviet amphibious craft and all of their escorts, plus approx half of their missile boats. I lost all my missile and torpedo boats and 4 Freedom Fighters.

No soviet amphibious craft made it to the coast, but 3 of their damaged escorts did before they were destroyed.

I would have thought whichever way you look at it this would be a significant victory yet I get scored 0 without any explanation of why.

Does anyone have any ideas? I would have thought it was bugged if other people weren't posting about later scenarios...

I've avoided applying the hotfix to my non-steam installation of the game, as the version on Steam became unplayable after the hotfix due to the mission editor ceasing to work.

Is there any reason to think the hotfix addresses an issue in Fast and Furious?

You can just extract the scenario from the zip to your scenario directory

I have just played The Fast and the Furious with Build 757.9 and had no issues with scoring or with the F-5A's launching the second Bullpup AGM. I did have to re-start the scenario for the scoring changes to take effect, but that's understandable.

I did have a question over the score needed to progress to the next scenario (150 - minor defeat) but it seems this is the correct behaviour.

So just to be 100% clear before I spend another two evenings repeating my inspired tactics from the last two attempts....(and a word from a developer might be appropriate)

Was there a scoring problem which has now been fixed in the hotfix? The hotfix notes on Steam don't imply this....

Much as I enjoy the game I think having to repeat all this again for nothing will probably finish my time with Northern Inferno, so I'd rather be certain before investing my remaining optimism in this one last fling.

Hello,

Build 757.9 includes an updated version of this scenario that should resolve this issue.

Please be aware that resuming from a save does not make use of the updated version; you must actually start the scenario from scratch.

Thanks!

As a reminder, if a particular scenario is giving you trouble for any reason, you can play any of the scenarios in standalone mode.

Thanks!

Is there any way of doing this while in the campaign?

I suppose I could reload the previous scenario and finish it, but I never saved during it so I'd have to play through that one from scratch again as well as The Fast and the Furious.

But then the campaign is broken. How about something to let us skip the broken scenario and continue the campaign?

This is why we have provided an updated version of this scenario which should not have this problem.

If this is build 757.9 it didn't work. I restarted from the last save in scenario 2 and scenario 3 still failed.

Just to be clear: Applying the B757.10 update (which has an updated version of NI#3) and then resuming from a save made in mid-scenario will NOT fix the issue, because the save will still use the original problematic copy of the scenario. You must resume from an earlier scenario and "step into" NI#3 in order to use the fixed version.

We know for a fact that the updated versions we provided have fixed the scoring issue for at least many players (or prevented the issue from ever happening in the first place, see for example: https://forums.spacebattles.com/posts/19562197/ ), so it is very strange to still receive a report about this.

Does this apply with campaign checkpoints? Meaning starting the scenario from the beginning in a campaign.
