[FIXED 1.09 Patch 1] NI 5 Bodo Magazines

Command: Northern Inferno is a DLC for Command: Modern Operations. Set in 1975, the Cold War is omnipresent and beneath the veneer of détente the tension between the two superpowers irreversibly escalate towards the ultimate confrontation.

[FIXED 1.09 Patch 1] NI 5 Bodo Magazines

Post by Rory Noonan »

Just wanted to check that the magazines in Bodo are intentionally empty. No problem if it's done for a balance reason, but it seems a bit odd that in WWIII there's not a single rack of spare Mk82's about.

I also wondered about the lack of re-loads. So, I improvised and used the F-4's off Ark Royal with tanker support to "fill in." Tedious, but I killed a lot of Badgers that way.

Given what happens to Bodo early in the scenario, I thought the lack of weapons in the magazine was intentional... (Not sure how to make a spoiler tag or I'd be more specific.)

In my recent play through they had been updated. My understanding of how the campaign mode works indicates that to see any updates or improvements you need to 'activate' the scenario again (I.e. Win the preceding scenario). Barents Sea boomers was a bit of a resource hog (~800 active units!) so you might be able to get around this by using a Lua command to change your score in the editor.

Potential spoiler:

You can also prevent anything nasty happening to Bodo by putting up a CAP early on. In my most recent play through I put up a cap immediately, with s tight prosecution zone around the airfield. Also changed doctrine so that weapons are free on air contacts. Bodo survived and I ended up moving the Shavkletons to Barfufoss and using the F104s as interceptors. Not a single bear, badger or other soviet AC got within 300nm of my surface groups [8D]

Thanks Sirius, this has been my favourite scen yet.

SO, for clarification, the Bodo magazine's are supposed to have NO resupplies for the air wing assigned to it? I haven't played it yet, but I always check the available loadouts at each base or carrier to see what options are to be had. I just noticed that Bodo has not even a resupply of Sidewinders for the CF-104's.

Am I missing something here ?

I'm currently playing through Beware of the Badgers (NI #5) and have had no problems rearming the F-104's.
In fact I changed the load out of some of the ground attack aircraft (Hydra & Rockeye) to AAW to help with the defence of Bodo.

So I've opened up the Scenario in non-campaign mode and checked the Magazines and the 'Ready/Arm' screens and I see the following:

Arm/Ready

I'm currently on build 757.10 and was on this when I started the scenario.
Not sure if this was the case in earlier builds. You may need to restart the scenario in the latest build for the stores to show up correctly.

AIGrant, thanks for posting that. I have 2 installs, one on my Windows tablet, the other on my laptop. I just verified on my laptop that it is indeed updated. Now I am curious why the update on the tablet didn't update that scenario.

Thanks for verifying I'm a partial yahoo....I should've checked both machines before raising a flag. Also, I had considered what Apache85 brought up and perhaps it was a purposeful shortcoming because it's not template to survive very long. I will have Steam verify my file integrity on my tablet and if all else fails, delete and reinstall.

No worries.

Potential Spoiler!
This is my first run through (sort of!) and I didn't notice anything with the stores, but I lost Bodo early on.
However the game crashed at that point (posted the crash message in another thread but forgot the save) and I had to go back to an earlier save. Obviously at that point I knew enough to keep Bodo and that has totally changed the scenario.
Still playing but seems to be going the same way as apache85.

I swapped out some of the ground attack F-104's for AAW loads and they're having a field day against the Soviet air.
Thoroughly enjoying this scenario and keeping detailed log of this one that I plan to use for an AAR.

Only thing I'm not clear on is the difference in weapon numbers between the Magazine stores and the Arm/Ready screen.
e.g. Mag: Hydra = 2500/2500 Ready: Hydra = 32 & 65

Just verified....tablet did NOT update. I deleted and reinstalled Northern Inferno. The magazine is as shown above now. Thanks for the feedback and thank Dimitris and team for updating all to the corrected properties.
