Just thinking on if i's a great AI you want and aren't just after a Squad scale wargame thwen Command Ops 2 has to be pick of the bunch. You cna download the core game over at LOck n Load and then paying for the modules. It comes with three scenarios for you to try plus you cna play any user made scenarios all for free.

It's a all time classic.

Thanks Wodin for offering another suggestion. I've heard good thing about Command Ops 2.

I prefer a game with the infantry/tank icons (even the top down look of SPWaW).

Maybe I'm into pretty graphics more than the complexity of a game (kinda wish I wasn't) but I think I've been spoiled by fantasy based MMO's over the years.

Thinking I need to re-train my brain and get completely away from the way I used to game (MMO's) and realize that war games ARE NOT supposed to be "pretty"

If you want pretty you might not like John Tillers games then. Graphics are pretty dated.

Zas you aren't going to get pretty graphics with nearly all wargames. CO 2 scale would make unit icons seem odd..plus the counte rinfo is important.

The game that's crying out to me now for you is Graviteam Tactics Operation Star.

You are right Wodin. I have to try something though.

Graviteam games are pretty, but I really want something turn based.

Think I'm going to just write down all the things I'm looking for in a game and then list them all....pros and cons and figure it out :)

Have you tired the demo for Panzer Command Ostfront. It's only east front right now, but it might be worth a look since it has a demo.

I don't know, I like it, but mostly because of the armor system and amount of units, but its a horror to learn to use, does anyone know if there is going to be a sequel or something?

edit: post is a reply to Blond_Knight, I should have used quote I guess

And if thats what you're into thats cool. Ive always found it horribly dry to play. Which makes sense, its an application they designed for DOD, and DOD wants numbers/stats not fun.

I would strongly avoid PoA 2 and TU. At best, I can throw a scenario together and resolve some turns, but it rarely saves the game right, etc. etc. Maybe one day...

Also, the Battlefront games blow PCO away, imho.

If you're a detail freak, Squad Battles lets you edit weapons, ammo, etc. Few games allow this level of fine editing [:)]

Tigers is getting much better. I can say when the next patch is released you'll notice a big difference...not sure how long away that will be yet though. However it is coming.

As you'll notice many people here have strong feelings about the games "they think" are the better games. No one is wrong or really right. You'll just have to decide for yourself really as that's the only way you'll get the game that "you" really enjoy. PCO hardly blows as some would say and CMx2 blows as I would say. [:D] Main thing here is they both blow to someone. [:D] Isn't it funny when gamers get together on a forum? It seems adversity is the norm. We all love each other (yeah, right) lol

Very true. Unless of course it comes from me as you can be sure that I'm right.

Adversity is normal for you and a very few others, the rest of us are just the opposite!

Sadly I find wargaming to have it's fair share of...erm...can't think of the right words...hmmm..it's fair share anyway:) Many have very strong views and opinions and be quite vocal about them also. They also can be a veyr unforgiving crowd. YET..I've also met many online who are warm, generous, thoughtful and all round great people. People I'm really glad I got to know and have enriched my not just my hobby but also myself.

What do you guys think about Decisive action? Its not a squad level game, its battalion and up, but it seems like the game is getting very little love, since almost no one mentions it anywhere when people talk about wargames..

It has a really easy map editor in which you can put a image of anything (any sort of map, even a ms paint drawing) , create a simple terrain overlay that is invisible and done, you don't need even 5 full minutes to make an awesome map of well..anything in the world, the only thing that is kind of an issue is the lack of units, there are all the main ones like the Abrams, T72, Mi 24 battalions, etc, but it still feels a little empty, nonetheless I really like it. It is again similar to POA in the sense that it feels more like a program, than an actual game, but I think that its a lot easier than many other ,,gamey" games.

There's not a one of you that post here that doesn't have an ounce of adversity in them every chance they get INCLUDING YOU WINGS ole boy.[:'(]

You take a snipe at me every chance you get in any thread. Don't act all coy cause you know you do. You do it on "purpose" also. [:D] Just like your last comment to bairdlander. I guess you don't think I notice things like that.

And you don't think YOU have been "very vocal" about a particular game or games or subject Wodin? Didn't you get kicked off The Wargamer for having such a strong Opinion about something? Thought everyone had forgot about that huh? [:'(]

I really liked that game, but it required you to have your desktop at 640x480, 800x600, or 1024x768 resolutions.
There was a promised patch to fix that but it never surfaced.

I'm trying to find some video's of John Tiller Squad Battles and I'm not finding much. Anyone know of game play videos for these titles?

Thanks

It's because you whine and complain too much and you like upset people just to get noticed. Try being kinder in your disagreements and comments and you will be noticed much more...it's that simple!
