Rate Of Fire

Post by RobertMc »

Hello all,

Of course I'm familiar with the concept of Rate Of Fire in both Squad Leader, ASL and now TOTH, but...what would "Rate Of Fire" be in the real world, on the real battlefield? I can understand the concept of being "Pinned" or "Breaking", but on the real battlefield what would constitute maintaining rate of fire or losing rate of fire?

I figure somewhere it's defined in a real world sense in the vast verbiage of SL and ASL material, but just wondering what the opinions here might be....if one maintains Rate Of Fire or loses Rate Of Fire...what is this supposed to represent in real combat?

This is what I read about ROF and it hit home to me.

To fight and conquer in all our battles is not supreme excellence; supreme excellence consists in breaking the enemy's resistance without fighting.
