Allied AI after the conquest of Great Britain is silly

Fury Games has now signed with Matrix Games, and we are working together on the next Strategic Command. Will use the Slitherine PBEM++ server for asynchronous multi-player.

Allied AI after the conquest of Great Britain is silly

Post by sad ham »

Once I've conquered Great Britain, the game becomes easy: USA never invade south of France or (in case Spain joins Axis) Spain, but insist to send ships, transports, Avs and AVLs to Plymouth, in suicide missions.

In my game the US and remaining brits showed up in Ireland and really cramped my style

I've conquered Ireland too.
All the stuff is sent to Plymouth where, of course, my subs are waiting

It is a bit disappointing that the U.S. just continues to send flotillas of unescorted transports into a turkey shoot.
I have noticed also that the U.S. does build up an enormous air armada over time that never comes into play.
Especially after knocking out Ireland, Iceland and Greenland.

+1

I conquered most of Europe. Pushing the Soviets back and holding the line. All of UK is mine. The US keeps sending suicide groups to southwest UK to land, and my screen of Axis naval fleets, (Spain, Italy, Germany and Sweden) are taking them out every time. There are NEVER escorts. Also, I invaded Iceland with two Paratroops, but they were easily defeated by the two well entrenched Air Units there. Boy, those mechanics and pilots are awesome infantry guys too! Who knew?

I think some of the AI behaviour can be addressed in a patch. I also think it's a big problem how easy a successful Sealion seems to be. Has anyone who had tried ever failed?

Most players that plan a Sealion operation usually build their forces accordingly. Not too surprising.

It is not the Axis player I refer to as much as the UK (AI). Do they continue to use a Garrison unit in their capital while the Axis player launches Sealion? Is the Royal Navy (vastly superior in 1940) not effectively protecting the channel? Is research too much of a priority in 1939/early 1940 rather then training UK infantry? I suspect at least some of the mentioned to be true.

Also the fact that the UK can surrender and be garrisoned by U-boats only is ridiculous. There should be actual garrison units required to hold Britain.

I'm currently doing a video series on YouTube as the Axis and am stuck just short of Manchester. The US and UK have tons of units and while they aren't pushing me back I can't get any headway. So while I haven't failed I haven't fully succeeded either.

Even with US units landing in north UK, I still managed with overwhelming Air and Ground units to win. The Royal Navy never showed up. Simply retreated to Iceland and US and piecemeal ed itself to death against my combined Axis fleet.

Mine failed the first two tries, when playing on the hardest difficulty setting.
When playing on lower difficulty settings, they always worked.
