RE: GD1938 Game 23
Malta falls to an Italian amphibious invasion. Italian infantry units reinforce the Soviet Crete invasion force and help isolate the remaining US forces on the eastern end of the island. THe Mediterranean has been cleared of enemy ships amd subs. This has freed the new Italian sub III units to make for the open waters of the Atlantic and begin to aid our allies in that part of the conflict. Diplomacy with the Swiss has begun to have an effect on our strained relations since the agents of China stirred up problems with our joint alpine borders.

Soviet 4th Army units continue the African southward advance as other units captured Benghazi. Fifth Army units have captured Bombay - Britain had built up Bombay to a class 3 large city. Chinese troops are pushed further from newly captured Chinese cities. More tanks and planes are turned over to the Japanese.

The USN noticed the predations of the Italian SS3 submarines immediately. This war against the Italian undersea forces will be open warfare as no patrol line can survive close to the enemy held coasts. Their submarines may be the point of the naval spear, and we are not aware of the strength of the Regia Marina. Who knows how powerful the RM has become building up in the protected Med. Do they have a powerful navy?

In Atlantic water Italian subs which traversed the straits of Gibraltar were engaged by the USN. Some American aircraft carriers were pulled in to engage them. They also had to fight German Bf-109G that sought to protect the Italian subs.
In Asia the city of Hiroshima fell to US troops. The Japanese are fanatical in defense of their nation, and the challenge to the US forces is recognized. In the north USN submarines have attacked some Soviet subs off Vladivostok.

November 1941 Germany
The air war continues with 47 FW190a BF109g's lost confirmed kills of Spitfires I and V hurricanes P40e and Grumman and Wildcats from the US carrier force total kills of these aircraft types put at 146 giving a kill ratio of 3 US and UK planes for 1 German Plane a improvement over last month 2 to 1 ratio. What was surprising in the air battles on the approaches to the pillars of Hercules the BF109g air wing outnumbered almost 5 to 1 managed to almost match the enemy kill for kill, imagine what they could do with parity.
Congratulations to Italy after the fall of Malta.
Our prayers go to our Japanese comrades assailed by the imperialists.

Both Osaka and Kyoto are reduced to zero production. A USN carrier task force sank a CVL and CV3 of the IJN carrier force.
The city of Lisbon was visited by USN forces and taken. 10 Italian submarines were destroyed.

Soviet Reports:
Three cities in India have fallen to our brave soldiers.
Our forces in Africa continue to move south although supply problems slow the movement.
The Roads in Gobi desert are mostly complete and the engineers are now building air bases so our Armies will have air support. More roads are necessary so that supplies will continue to flow to our Armies.

American amphibious assaults took three cities this month : Yokohama, Sendai, and Porto. There are only four untaken cities on the Japanese mainland. They are well defended, but each month brings more forces for them to contend with. The assaults were in all cases preceded by air attacks, with the USN carrier forces in the lead. The USAAF strategic bombers play a big part too. The Japanese still have carriers, but they are nearly without carrier aircraft to fly.
The Italian Navy sent 11 SS3 submarines our to wreak havoc on our supply lines. We had some subs available and we engaged the Italian undersea menace. We still have very little idea of where, and how strong, the Regia Marina is, but we expect to find out as they sally forth through the straits.
We are sure the Kriegsmarine is actively building an impressive fleet. We are having to prepare for battle with a force we do not know. The oceans are wide, and a naval force can strike in surprising places.

Soviet forces captured 3 (THREE) more cities in India. Our Far Eastern Air Units sank some American submarines.

Gentlemen,
Good afternoon. Haudruff1962 has done valiant duty, but is willing to leave this game. ArmouredLion has agreed to take his place. Mike is getting more experienced and has played Great Britain in Game 4 (TWC).
Please welcome him to this fine old game.

"but is willing to leave this game"
Has someone asked Haudruff1962 to leave the game ?

RE: GD1938 Game 23
No, far from it. He said he was playing so the game could keep going. I said I would look for someone , when I had found someone he wrote :
Well, in that case I'd happily pass over command to the new guy, my password is "************". Currently the Germans are bombing one city after the other to limit my production, so I am building Flak and fighters, also tanks to push them back if they should land. If the new commander should have any questions he can contact me anytime.
...
Thanks for all the advice and good luck with turning this mess around![]()
RE: GD1938 Game 23
ArmouredLion did the turn 53 for GB, which I had already opened for Haudruff, so I will have a second opening.

We wish the war weary world a Happy New Year.
The United States forces in Japan captured Kyoto. Recon at Vladivostok revealed the Japanese fleet sailing under Soviet colors. A very sad day for the Empire.

RE: GD1938 Game 23
Sorry to hear he is leaving, a worthy opponent in France and a British player not dealt the best of hands, life is always a lot easier for the British, if the Germans are committed to a War in the East, but with the attack on Germany and Italy in 1938 and the entry of the USA into the War in 1938 a German move East would be suicide, and also not great for the Soviets either. It grants a easy win for the US/UK coalition while the Germans are rendered weak in the west due to eastern front commitments, allowing the easy access to Western European victory points. Thanks Haudruff1962 for your contribution to the game.

I add my thanks to Haudruff1962. And welcome to the game ArmouredLion(?). Haven't played my turn as it has not been posted yet. Today I go to the doc for some outpatient surgery. Hope it's not too painful. And he has something other than alcohol as a disinfectant as I am extremely allergic to the liquid in any form.

Hey, all. I'm trying to whip up the lads so as to offer an equal level of opposition as the former commnader. I can promise my best effort, but the situation seems a bit dire. Nevertheless, we will tarry on with a stiff upper lip and give Jerry... and Stalin if he decided to attempt English shores, all that they can handle.
