New May 42 Start

Post by pcellsworth »

This is mod 68 that starts May 1, 1942. It has full scripts. It is much closer to historical than my previous version 65.

Do you have to rename the scenario to get it to work?

I cannot get scn 68 to run. I opened the file and copied the files to the correct location in the witpae folder. scn 68 is not listed when i try to load it, both in the game and in the editor.
I compared the 068 files to the 065 files and the correct number of files are present. I compared 068 to 065 because i have loaded 065 many times and know that the 065 scn works good. I rebooted the computer twice, but the scn 068 files are not listed.
Any ideas ??

Sorry, My BAD. I was copying to the wrong witpae files. Works good as advertised.

Nope, it looks like the complete package for slot 068.

Just unzip into the SCEN folder and it will be good to go. [:)]

Cheers,
Reg.

Sorry for reviving this thread but I couldn't find Kaga at scenario start. And there's an Air Combat TF in Port Blair with no carrier. Is it because I'm not using the extended map?

Edit: Ignore. Just read that this scenario was meant for the extended map. I'll just revert to scenario 65.

For health various reasons I prefer to play the AI. It does not care if I don't feel like playing for a week or so, or I'm away, so I love these mods. THanks to the developers. I love the "Nasty" versions, but wanted something more "realistic" so I'm trying this.

Comments from first 2 weeks against Japanese AI.

1, There is a Dutch Air Unit that shows up in Oz with 2 pilots, but this scenario has removed the Dutch replacement pilots. There should be a few added over time.
2. When Aklab fell there were some British from the Eastern Army in the area in real life I think, but there is nothing on map for the British much closer than Calcutta, and Cox's Bazzar (unoccupied) goes Japanese by default on about turn 2 or 3.
3. Should the Burma Corps and III Indian corps infantry units starting deep in India (CG start positions for some?) be there, or where they destroyed in Burma (or are they rebuilding).

This scenario AI is pretty aggressive. The AI seem much stronger with its use of "historical" forces than the actual historical offensive by quite alot.
