Alternative TF pictograms for IJN player

Post by Subchaser »

Alternative TF pictograms for IJN player. Work in both resolutions. Back up original J_Mission file and put this one instead into your ART folder.

I believe that most players don't look at this kind of UV art while playing, but if someone does… hope this is a little bit better than original set.

Looks great. Now can you get matching Allied pics? The art used on the "Waterline Series" is great but tends to be very IJN.

1)First remove/delete/rename original file J_mission.bmp, it’s in C:\…UncommonValor\ART folder.

2)Then right click on image above, chose “save as” option and save it into C:\…UncommonValor\ART folder (do not change its format, save as it is – *.bmp). Chose overwrite if you’ll be asked.

I’m glad you like this stuff Ron. :)

I actually have Allied set, but I want to change sub images there before posting it.

Thanks, SC! Can't wait for the Allied pics.

On a related note, I really like aircraft squadron/identification markings and the various camoflage schemes that came with them as war progressed. What I'd like to see (by some hardcore history buffs with PC skills) would be specific squadron markings for each squadron (at least service branch) and period markings/camoflage changes as war progresses. (ie., F4Fs in early war star roundel with red ball and tail stripes, followed by the removal of red ball and tail stripes followed by star and bars, etc.). Little details which may add little to the overall game for many add much for me. I'm weird I guess...;)

Hi, SC,

very fine artworks, I will download it as soon as I am back home (surfing at work right now but it is Friday evening....).

Just wondering: these pics remind me the Japanese model boxes of the 70's, true or wrong ?

Alternate question: can you say to us wich boat is shown on every pic ?

What you’re talking about demand exe. modification, addressing lines and additional modifiers for choosing appropriate bmp. pics. must be added. I have only general idea how this can be done. However I’m sure that this is quite easy task for even average programmer.

All what I can do personally is 2-3 sets of new a/c graphics to reflect paint scheme and markings evolution during the war, but you will have to upload every next graphic set manually.

very fine artworks,

Thanks!

Only one is model box pic – Fast transport, Kagero. Others were taken from 3D artwork by Taizuru Kawabuki and naval art drawings by Tamaishi Yuki. I used some of those small ships on background behind image’s soloist ship. Then some primitive work with Photoshop filters and bicubic scaling to put these 300-400/100-120 pxls. images into 148/58 pxls. UV pictogram.

Alternate question: can you say to us wich boat is shown on every pic ?

Air Combat – CV Shokaku class
Surface Combat – CA Takao class
Bombardment – CA Furutaka class
Fast Transport – DD Kagero class
Transport – Unknown, some kind of medium maru class
Replenishment – Oiler Noudzi
Mine Warfare – 1st Class Minesweeper #6
Sub Patrol – Type KD2
Sub Mine Warfare – Type B1
Sub Transport – unknown, probably one of RO classes

Are these pics for the screen where you pick the type of mission?

Bombardment PIC

Post by Ron Saueracker »

I think it's actually the battleship Hyuga or Ise.

Yes you’re right, it’s Hyuga before modification on donor image.

But I, amazingly, was right also. I gave vessel info on my personal variant, and it’s really Furutaka there on bombardment pic.

Ah, o.k. thanks. Somehow I thought they were going to be the background for the screen where you pick the task force mission.:)
