Subs destroying BB in port

Fury Games has now signed with Matrix Games, and we are working together on the next Strategic Command. Will use the Slitherine PBEM++ server for asynchronous multi-player.

Subs destroying BB in port

Post by ninyure »

If Italia loose its DD for some reason, UK might destroy their BB in port, with little the axis player can do about it...

We are ships in port not safe from subs? It's not very realistic.

I have found having a bomber and fighter in Siricusa helps deter them from getting too bold.

Are you talking in general or did you park a BB in Taranto? If the latter, nothing for you to do afaik, same as your frogmen occasionally doing damage to their ships in port.

Scapa flow, Pearl harbor, Gibraltar and many other ports were infiltrated by subs and mini-subs that did damage to capitol ships.

Decima mas incursions (Cairo, Gibraltar...) were special operation units and already have their own mechanics into the game. U47 incursion in Scapa Flow just happened once at the very beggining of the war and was afterwards imposible to repeat. In this game is a systematic thing. Subs can always attack BB in port.

Besides ships lost in port were usually easier to refleet, and were rarely lost for good. In this game is as if they had been sunk in deep waters.

If this upsets you, what about sea mines? There are none in the game, while they secured large areas against enemy movements.

But I agree that you have a point here (even though I would always assume that every human made defense can be overcome by human efforts) It would indeed be nice if harbors could get anti anti-sub tech, just like cities can get anti-air tech. This way every player could decide where and how strong he wants to secure his harbor.
