5.0 - Campaign generator bug

Post by WanhaPatu »

Aagh, that vid998.smk corruption almost made me crazy. But I managed to fix it.

I started playing a generated campaign (Finland vs USSR, from 42 to 44, lenght 8). I played the first battle and I was happy with all the new little features, althought the battle was fought in Central Europe.

After the battle I saved the game, fixed my damaged units and proceeded. And what happens? The game shows me the "Select theater"-screen and freezes. Nothing happens. Only thing I can do is press Ctrl-Alt-Del.

Is there a bug in campaign generator (why on earth would Finland fight in Asia?) of is there something wrong with my computer?

I am getting a little pissed off :(

Hey soldier, take a cigarette and lay low - the enemy wont attack until dawn ... er, just want to say don't get pissed :)

Just view you units as part of a 'support' unit for allied nations (like Legion Kondor in Spain, or the Free Polish units that fought in Operation Marketgarden, Canada for sure didn't fight anywhere near their country) - so you go there where your allies are.

Perhaps the Russian got scared of the sisu and ran straight back to Siberia.. :)

It's not that big problem that I have to fight for my country in Asia (!) but the bug that crashes the game is something really different :)

You aren't by any chance, running the game on Windows NT? (see my response in the Bug found thread).

Nope, I have Windows 98.

But hey, I think the game shouldn't even show the "select theater (theatre? whatever)" screen in generated campaigns but only in WW2 campaigns? Is this correct? I thought it was that way in the previous versions...
