Jul/Aug 1940
Impulse: 8 (Axis)

The result stands as per the explanation above. The Chinese are unable to retreat and so the cavalry and division are both destroyed. The attack, carried out in such difficult terrain sees the Japanese units disorganised.

Jul/Aug 1940
Impulse: 8 (Axis)

Rebase:
Japan

Kaga flies off her air component and heads to the local naval air station in downtown Tokyo

Germany

The Luftwaffe rebases:
- the fighters of JG4 from Belgium to France
- the Ju-88's of KG3 are ordered from Holland to the Rhineland
- and finally the Tante-Ju's in Holland are sent to Liege.

Reorganisation: None

End of Turn: A 9 is thrown (turn ends on less than a 3) and so its back to the Allies

Jul/Aug 1940
Impulse: 9 (Allies)

Weather: It's fine everywhere except for the Northern Monsoon which remains wetter than a haddock's bathing costume...

No DoW or alignments

China and France land. US Pass. Rest combined.

CW sub sails from Plymouth to West Med 1-box.

Only area for naval combat was Cape Verde. CW declines.

France rail INF from Vichy to Marseilles.

Over to Mayhemizer to complete the impulse.

Chinese retreat in north and south.

USSR rebase planes to German border. France rebases fighter from Paris by one hex.

USSR places marker to offense and move one marker from defense to offense.

How does Germany place their markers?

Nah. That one I expected. I've almost completely blocked the possibility to get partisans so, of course, it is going to appear the turn I fail. Even funnier it gets when I consider that if I would have gotten one more impulse then the risk for a partisan in China would have been zero.

US puts a chit in the Ge/It pool.

It imposes an embargo on strategic materials to Japan but with their minds focused on China, the Japanese show little reaction (10 rolled, no chit to tension). Approval is granted in the two houses for lend-lease shipments to China. The Japanese are again not bothered (7 rolled).

Across the Atlantic, it's a different matter when the two houses also approve a bill allowing US resources to be sent to the Allies (5 rolled. Chit to tension pool).

He-112 in Cologne
Bf-109 in Aachen
Synth Oil in Prague

China has 4 BP's production.

CW saves 6 oil and has 18 BP's production (1 factory idle).

US saves the oil it can. Production 10 BP's.

CW CV task forces in the North Sea and West Med stay at sea, as do various escorts in the major convoy zones. TRANS in North Sea to London. TRANS in Cape Verde to Cape Town. CV in Cape St Vincent to Gibraltar. CA's in Central Med to Gib. CA in Faeroes Gap to Belfast. Sub in West Med to Malta.

Japanese oil use came to 1.2 so I carried on with reorganising all as it still only spent 1 oil.

CW reorganises all except the destroyer flotilla (1.45 points) for 1 oil spent.

US had no disorganised oil units.

China builds 2 MIL

CW 18
INF HQ
MIL x2
AMPH 2nd
Pilot x2
CV Formidable 2nd.

US 10
AMPH 2nd
TRANS
Pilot
INF

Reinforcements

China - Pilot to FTR and placed at Chungking with MIL. GARR to Kunming.

CW - Pilots to P-40 (Hull) and Gladiator (London). CP to Liverpool. CP to Bombay.

US - GARR to San Diego.

Initiative

Axis 4, Allies 1. Allies can reroll (Axis are at +1). Mayhemizer, what would the French like?

After a brief exchange of signals between their respective governments, the Allies decide not to press the issue regarding initiative. Do the Axis wish to go first or second?
