Cost of Attacking WRONG????

Gary Grigsby’s War in the East: The German-Soviet War 1941-1945 is a turn-based World War II strategy game stretching across the entire Eastern Front. Gamers can engage in an epic campaign, including division-sized battles with realistic and historical terrain, weather, orders of battle, logistics and combat results.

The critically and fan-acclaimed Eastern Front mega-game Gary Grigsby’s War in the East just got bigger and better with Gary Grigsby’s War in the East: Don to the Danube! This expansion to the award-winning War in the East comes with a wide array of later war scenarios ranging from short but intense 6 turn bouts like the Battle for Kharkov (1942) to immense 37-turn engagements taking place across multiple nations like Drama on the Danube (Summer 1944 – Spring 1945).

Cost of Attacking WRONG????

Post by Wheat »

Blizzard, 1942

My panzers are attempting to make a HASTY attack across a major river. As I understand it, the cost should be:

HA-3
Attack across Major River-12
Blizzard-2
Total-17

Well, a panzer with 21 MP left CANNOT make the attack, a panzer with 23 MP left CAN. What am I missing here? Has the attacking costs changed in some patch?

The ice level MP costs affect attacking too.

Nix77, you are probably right, and I didn't realize it, but I went back to the updated manual and geez, its as clear as "mud" as to what the costs are. On the turn I wanted to attack, it was ice level 6. But nowhere in the rules does it seem to say what the costs are for attacking over a river with ice. I am pretty sure that at a certain ice level the river has no effect. I'm a bit bummed that the table of movement costs doesn't clarify this.

Anyone have better info on this?

Here's the line from the "Condensed Rules for 1.08.09", which is a good reference, but unfortunately not 100% perfect and of course doesn't contain the changes after 1.09.00.

Oh, and you got one thing wrong there, the Blizzard +2MP isn't calculated to attack costs, thus 23MP is just enough for a mechanized hasty over level 5-7 ice. I really wish there was a tooltip for the attack costs. Especially in WitW/WitE2 with the battle delay included it's going to be really confusing.

That woukd be great, one for movement would be awesome too. Is the 'Enter enemy hex' rule cumulative with the attack MP expended?
