Thanks for the work on this Kull. Definitely need a scorecard to keep up with the scenario updates and AI mods.

Is there a link to Scenario #40 (Ironman ported to Babes)? It sounds interesting.

Edit: Scratch that previous message. Here's the link:

If it was easy, I wouldn't have had to create this thread! Fortunately the reality is you only need to update or add the one scenario you are interested in playing. So if you are just starting off and want to begin with "Coral Sea", just download only that one from the links in post #2. If you are ready for a long campaign, then it's probably the new Scenarios 100 or 101 from the links in Post #3.
Anything more specialized, just click each link and read through the linked thread so you can learn more about that particular variant to see if it's what you were looking for.
RE: AI Files - Updating your build with the latest versions
This is a great thread but I've only played stock scenarios in the past, so I have a really dumb (embarrassing actually[8|]) question: I'd like to give AndyMac's updated ironman (#102) scenario a shot but I don't see a readme or anything in the files I downloaded. Do I simply extract the files to the SCEN folder...or is it more complicated than that?
thanks!
thanks!

RE: AI Files - Updating your build with the latest versions
Were you able to get the scenario 10 data update from post #2 of this thread? When I try to open the .zip file, whatever program I try to open it with tells me the .zip is corrupted (both Windows and WinRAR show the error).
I believe you need to install the original updates to Scenario 10 using the .exe file (AEdataUpdateS10.exe) that is produced from that .zip file. Then you overwrite with the files from the v5 Nasty .zip (found in the OP of this thread) to get the fully updated version.
Let me know if you need a copy of the AEdataUpdateS10.exe file. I have a copy, but its size is too large to attach directly on the forums. I can host it elsewhere, but I don't want to do that until I know you don't already have a copy.
Edit: Also, yes, you extract all files into the /SCEN subdirectory of the WitP:AE directory. You must add the /SCEN to the .exe install path as they default to the WitP:AE directory.

RE: AI Files - Updating your build with the latest versions
Thanks for the quick response! I was able to download and install the scen 10 update. When I download the #102 update, I keep getting a message saying "this app can't run on your pc" along with various other warnings. Not sure what to do.
The v5 you linked to was posted in 2012, the #102 in 2016, isn't #102 the latest or am I wrong?

RE: AI Files - Updating your build with the latest versions
Yes, you are correct... the latest for Scenario #102 is from 3/2016 and is found in this thread. Also, the trouble I was having with the AI updates was I wasn't renaming them to .EXE files. I've been a bit under the weather today and my thinking isn't 100% clear. Apologies for the confusion.
So first install the older AEdataUpdateS10.exe file (the one that needs to be renamed to an .exe file & which contains the AI updates) to the /SCEN folder, then extract the "IronmanTe..en102.zip" file from the 3/2016 thread linked above into the /SCEN folder. Overwrite the older files when it prompts to do so.

RE: AI Files - Updating your build with the latest versions
Just to clarify, the AI files are unique to every individual scenario, and you do not need, for example, to install scenario 10 in order to run scenario 102. That scenario is also a true zip (not a renamed exe), so you only need to download it and then dump the contents - 11 files - into the SCEN folder. From there, start up a new game, click "Scenario Selection", and then page down to "102 New Ironman tier 1", click "Select Scenario", and then "Start Game" from the next page.
RE: AI Files - Updating your build with the latest versions
Thanks Korvar. I was saving the #102 file as exe rather than zip [8|]
Followed your instructions and all seemed to go well. Scenario is in slot 102 and it started up fine. One other quick question, I'm currently on the latest official update, should I download the latest beta before starting one of these mod scenarios?
thanks again!

My pleasure. And yes, you DEFINITELY want to use the latest "beta". WitP-AE betas are completely stable and not buggy in the slightest.

Yes, thanks Kull! You provided clarity where my foggy brain failed today. [&o]

Hello Kull. Fyi.
The differences between the standard and extended maps are de minimis so far as the AI is concerned. What works for standard will work for extended. So …
Any and all AI files for regular GC scenarios work unconditionally, playing either side, with any and all Babes Lite scenarios, no matter the map.
Any and all AI files for regular GC scenarios work unconditionally, playing against the Japanese computer, with any and all DBB scenarios, no matter the map.
Any and all AI files for regular GC scenarios work “kinda ok enough”, playing against the Allied computer, with any and all DBB scenarios, no matter the map.
For Andy’s Ironman AI files, it depends on how much he changed unit slot positions in the corresponding scenario data files. If he didn’t change slot positions much, but just added “more stuff”, those AI files will work just fine with all Babes as described above. If he did change slot positions a lot, as well as adding more stuff, it will show as “kinda ok enough”.
Matt
Even though Andy Mac said this about his Scen 100-101 AI?

ps not Extended Map standard map only at present

RE: AI Files - Updating your build with the latest versions
He meant AI scripts for the handful of the new small bases that are present in the extended map. The lack of scripts really doesn't affect the AI global performance on the extended map.

RE: AI Files - Updating your build with the latest versions
Will these updates work for games already in progress, or do they need to be made prior to starting a new game to take effect?

Prior to a campaign.
RE: AI Files - Updating your build with the latest versions
Thanks for this excellent thread Kull (and to Quixote too). Unfortunately I can't download the Scenarios. I was using Chrome with no luck. I then saw this thread and changed to IE. This allowed me to change the name from .zip to .exe but it still won't let me change the file type to ALL FILES as this is greyed out and stubbornly remains as zipped. Has anyone got any suggestions please?

Would using Firefox help the download? For unzipping try 7-zip.org. It's free.
