Both sides rolled 7. CW has two surprise points. How will they be used?

1) if adding AA fire gives us lowest of 6, we do that.

2) in other case decrease damage by one column.

No naval air.

Two German U-boats sail to the North Atlantic where they search for Allied convoys.

The Axis U-boats remain but with no merchant shipping in the area the U-boats are excluded. Combat over. The three surviving CPs reach Liverpool.

No strategic bombing. No Ground Strikes. No rail movement.

Minor Japanese movement in China.

And Italy needs to co-ordinate land movement with Germany so there will be a break for now.

Land Movement (cont):
Italy

The Italians create a new army - the 2nd Army - which consists of two Italian Corps - IV Infantry and Celere Motorised Corps plus the 1st Infantry Division - and the German LXIII Infantry and XLIX Mountain Corps. These units are tasked with removing the French XLII Corps from the Massif Central.

Germany

The Germans are in a quandary over what to do with the 4th Motorised Division, but ultimately this unit is ordered to join the attack by 6th Army west of the Seine

Land Combat:

There are two attacks ordered. Billotte is the target southeast of Paris and the XLII Corps is targeted in the mountains southwest of Vichy.

The Messerschmitts of JG2 are loaded up with bombs to provide what ground support it can to the northern attack.

This leaves the attacks as follows:

Impulse: 13 (Axis)

Land Combat (cont):

In the south the Assault table is chosen as otherwise the combat would be automatic. The Fractional Roll fails and the odds remain at 7:1. A 2 is thrown and the French infantry are consigned to meet their end on the northern slopes of the mountain range. A corps from each of the German and Italian contingents take the vacated territory.
