Using the metrics screen

Gary Grigsby’s War in the West 1943-45 is the most ambitious and detailed computer wargame on the Western Front of World War II ever made. Starting with the Summer 1943 invasions of Sicily and Italy and proceeding through the invasions of France and the drive into Germany, War in the West brings you all the Allied campaigns in Western Europe and the capability to re-fight the Western Front according to your plan.

Using the metrics screen

Post by SaintEx »

Hi all. I'm on my third run-through for the campaign as the allies, and I'm still having trouble interpreting the metrics screen. I've bombed the bejeezus out of the Reich, focusing, for example, on fuel and oil. The LW is flying far fewer sorties (mid-44) but I don't see a dent in "fuel stores and pool". "Oil stores + pool" jitters around like it's a graph of the Dow Jones. Also, while oil stores + pool seems to be somewhat below oil required, fuel stores + pool are way, way higher than fuel required, leading me to think that the Reich will always have enough no matter what I do, i.e. 3M fuel stores and pool compared to 14.500 required. Any insights?
