UV beginner - scenario Coral Sea

Post by Terrific T »

Here 's another french player !

first, you can find some help on the french forum (even if members seem to bee little tired at this time ! ) :

http://uv.omahabeach-bedford.com

I think before talking about strategy, you should try to manage the game, the interface and some basicals rules concerning the planes (kind of missions) , the ships & TFs (creation, and understanding of the orders React & patrol/retire. )

the Coral Sea Scenario is good for practicing with planes and ships: as US player, you must intercept the japanese invasion against New Guinea (Buna, Gili-gili & PMoresby) and/ or Guadalcanal (Tulagi & Lunga).
Here' s some basical tactics to do this:

- reinforce PM with planes ( fighters & bombers) and aviation support by using yours Dakota,

- send your carriers TF in the coral sea, but take care not to go north of a gili-gili/ Lunga line, in order to avoid Betty & Nell japanese strikes. Keep the Yorktown and Lexington in the same TF. do not separate them ! They must attack together japaneses carriers for better results.

- Refuel your resplenishmt TF and send it to follow your carrier TF.

- try to find ennemy TFs with long range air patrol (B-17, Catalyna with Naval Search orders). you can try to install a small base on Buna or Tulagi for Catalyna in order to cover this area of research.

- Other possibilities, if you want to loose less bases as possible: try to use DDs, CLs, etc...as fast transport to send troops at GGili, Buna & Tulagi (and Air transport too). It can be interesting sometimes...but also dangerous if you 're not faster than Japanese player.

But remember that the final result of this scenario is based especially on the result of the battle of carriers !

I think he responded in another thread:

thinks to respond me for the informations you give me. it was very interesting for a beginner like me. my english is very old and not very good. if you can help me for the scenario 1 and 2 to understand the strategy of this game, it was very beautiful.
the tutorial is very quick and very small for all the enormous work to understand the game. if you want to talk send e mail to philippevalent@aol.com.
