Here's what Malaya looks like now. I need to land some troops behind the Allied lines to cut off their supply flow to help accellerate the takedown a little bit. Also, I need to get some BB's to tackle the CD guns at Singapore to make it safe for the smaller ships to get in there and do airfield bombardment strikes. Those planes are going to be a problem going forward. I need to get rid of them.

This is the Bangkok area right now. We're still fighting over the railroad pass beside the mountains. My boys are holding so far and progress is being slowly made in Malaya. Maybe I can turn this situation around somehow and gain the upper hand with the introduction of some more troops. Northern China is being evacuated since it's operations are almost done and the middle is being threatened with the arrival of some rail-borne troops arriving from northern China. I'm about to have a lot more company in the middle of China. I'll produce a picture to show you what I mean.

Here's a picture of the middle of China where Communist Chinese are arriving from the west having made the trip from Northern China some of it by rail. I watched in the combat replay where several stacks were moving down south from the Northern China area. So I'm making an effort to put some units in the most narrow part of the gap so I can try to contain all of them.

Larry,

Interesting stuff. I hope to start commenting more as we stop going to the cottage on the weekends. I love the time at the cottage, but it is going to be nice to have more time to play this game and to see how others are doing things.

All the best,
Mike

Here's the Malaya situation. I'm not making much progress here despite the supply being adequate. The Allies are holding firm.

I have no idea how I am still holding on to this section of the map. Larry struck Singapore hard last turn with three battleships and destroyed my coastal defences like they were made of cardboard. I did, however, manage to get my revenge and sink some of his ships. Maybe Larry can show that.

Here's the story on the BB's at Singapore. I've got BB's showing on the losses list and there used to be a lot more BB's in the stack than are remaining. Jorge has flown in some naval bombers and they did their jobs.

Larry, I sunk at least 3 ships at that location. One BB for sure, and probably two cruisers, plus damaged another BB.

I love this game, but it really does my head in sometimes. I can't sail my troop ships without them getting sunk. Ridiculous. Look at the picture on the left, I have 100+ fighters on Air Superiority, plus AA cruisers covering a few troop transports, yet somehow 60 planes manage to sink most of my troop transports whilst only losing 12 planes and I lose 3. Ridiculous.

The second picture shows a multi hundred fighter/bomber raid on Larry's battleship, which I managed to hit albeit for a pretty heavy loss of aircraft. I figured it was worth it though, a/c come back, big fat battleships don't. He's running out of his and I still have mine, and it's only May 1942!

Jorge reports that he got a mixed unit message and the PBEM++ game crashed
and we're not at all sure we can continue it so I guess just stand by for
news of the game.

It would be very disappointing to have to stop or game, it's been so much fun so far.

Maybe the community can help. I've isolated the crash to one location, and repeated it. Basically there are several of Larry's units which are not showing on the map, and when I try to move one of my units into the location, the game crashes. I don't have an attack option, only move.

See image. If anyone has any ideas much appreciated!

I would suggest going back to a previous turn prior to the crash and do the turn over again. Do the turn differently and maybe you can get past the crash point. Maybe you have already tried that. Good luck.

thomasharvey can you tell me how I could go back a turn in a PBEM++ game? That would be great if we could. Any help appreciated.

I can't think of a way to "go back a turn" in a PBEM++ game. I'm not sure it can be done.

Maybe you could open the turn, move nothing and end the turn. Send it to Larry and he does the same and sends it back to you. Then do the next turn normally. Maybe that can get you past the problem.

Ralph fixed the game problem we had so the game is going on.

Jorge is breaking through my defensive lines near Bangkok and that spells trouble for all those guys in Malaya. I may have to pull out of Malaya entirely.

There's only a couple of hexes to take to have possession of Singapore. This is the hardest part because the Allied units are in stacks and my units are weak. Ship support is mandatory.

It looks like this turn I'm going to get a BB and some aircraft. Welcome additions.
