Artillery battle stack

Post by AstroBlues »

I was reading in the GD 1938 battle manual and the part about battle stacks for artillery and aircraft confused me.

When bombarding with artillery, how will I know when I have saturated the hex. Is there a number somewhere and what number am I looking for when I have bombarded with artillery and air enough.

This is just my opinion, but with arty I use 105 SP max if arty is needed elsewhere. But If I want to take a point or the arty isn't needed elsewhere, I just pour it on. There is a rate of diminishing returns, but you don't lose arty in casualties because of it. With air you do lose casualties... if there is air defense. If there isn't air defense pour it on... but after 50% over stack limits the returns diminishes fast. If there is air defense, then be careful... I would do more than 100 SP. But this is only an anecdotal recipe... with a dash of fact.

Thanks for responding. One other question, the numbers on the hex after an artillery or air strike, is that the artillery battle stack?
