RE: How is this game?

The updated AI files for solo play were created by one of the developers, AndyMac, independently of the beta patches.

The game received very strong post support release from the development team for a good number of years, but over the last few years their efforts trickled down and most of them are no longer active on the forum.

michealm was the developer who fixed the bugs we reported and added enhanced features through the "unofficial" beta updates.
The only reason they are unofficial is that Matrix wasn't interested in releasing any more official patches.

1.811.26a is the version I have running now but it seems it did not install it to a beta dir. It is the main exe file.

1126a is not the latest beta, it is a precursor and IIRC I downloaded mine from the Matrix Games site, not the forum. Go to the Forum Tech Section and look for the 1126b version in the stickied section. That is the only one that automatically creates the Beta folder.

Ok one more question when i install the beta patch it shows me what dir I installed it and I hit next. Maybe it is overwriting the original exe file ? It doesnt show that it is installing in any beta sub dirt just main dir...

You are correct. As BBfanboy mentioned, only the 1126b unofficial beta creates the Beta2 file. It also creates a second desktop Icon, which would be the one to use. But don't worry about that beta yet. There is plenty to learn before you need to worry about it....GP

I think the easiest way to solve this is to post a screenshot of the folder layout in a correctly installed 1126b version game. I do not use this version so perhaps someone out there could take a screenie showing all the relevant folders expanded to show all sub-folders?

In SeeBee you need to select the px and py switches and put in those numbers. So it should be px1080 and py1920....GP

Wow, I thought in the patches everything was updated, thanks for your AI Files post [:)]

If at all possible, you should play one of the newest AI scenarios - one of the 5 released in 2016. The quality of the AI is light years beyond the 2010 defaults.

Edit: They only have one Variant however, so you don't get the variability that comes with the 2012 updates. Accordingly, I'd recommend that people who are learning the game start with one of the 2012 scenarios and only go to the 2016 version (if available) once you are certain that THIS is going to be your start-to-finish Grand Campaign.

Nice work gents.... although Kull is right that the AI / scenario database files do improve the game considerably (links available in Kull's first post in this thread).

I feel this picture sums up this thread pretty well [:D]

Here is a link to the FAQ/Info for Newb's:

Read it as well as bookmark it. It has links to other places for more information.

Against the computer, do reload a start of turn save and redo the turn. The AI/computer will not mind at all.
