Taking Spain as Axis after France

Post by HamburgerMeat »

I've seen several axis players take Spain after the Fall of France. Italy loses a significant chunk of its national morale, but germany doesnt seem to be very affected. US mobilization goes up, but not by much (that ive seen)

Whats the range of US mobilization increase? Not sure if axis should be penalized more

Hi

An Axis declaration of war against Spain will swing the US 8-15% towards the Allies.

Thanks Bill!

15% sounds pretty severe to me. Probably not worth doing in conjunction with other conquests that mobilize the US. Probably still worth it if you're not trying to take egypt and/or the english isles

In my opinion it is too easy for either side to take Spain.

Axis player can just send forces from the Easter Front before the Russian winter and after US is it at Pearl Harbor. Axis forces take Spain in one or two turns max. Axis player then takes Gilbrator and makes it really difficult for the allies to,get back into the Med.
The major down side for the axis is having to defend so many ports and having to divert some forces from the Eastern Front.

On the other hand, as I have said before, it is easier for the allies to invade Spain than it is to attack fortified France.

Not sure what should be done about this.

Maybe have an event when Madrid falls, that randomly between 3-8 partisan units spawn; one near each Spanish town not in the conquers control. Any extra spawns end up in a random conquer occupied hex near a town. This will take a couple of more turns to finish off Spain

In addition, more of the partisan spawn spots the conquer has to occupy, there are 11 cities/towns, 5, 6, 7... spots, there is more of a cost to hold it afterward.

Or maybe some kind of random partisan generator, you could buy "Diplomacy" chits to increase or decrease the odds of a random partisan deploying in occupied Spain.

I think Spain should always be 100% mobilized as the world around them was in flames. It would make sense to have your forces on the highest alert. That goes for Portugal as well. This would make it a lot tougher to just roll through. I like the partisans idea. Making it more expensive to hold than the MPPs you get would be a factor. Perhaps national morale drops as your nations people feel there are enough people to fight now, why are we adding enemies to the list? Diplomatic penalties for ALL other neutral nations would be another thing perhaps.
