Soviet Dawn Beta Test Ausf. C

Germany At War: Operation Barbarossa 1941 is an elegant turn-based design, inspired by classics such as Panzer General, but with more of a historical focus. You command the German forces through a branching historical campaign covering the entire 1941 campaign as well as part of the 1942 campaign. Dozens of scenarios stretch from the Soviet border all the way to Archangel and towards Astrakhan, the original military goals of Operation Barbarossa. Step into a wargame where your performance will rewrite history, through an addictive combination of compelling gameplay, realistic events and challenging battles.

Soviet Dawn Beta Test Ausf. C

Here is the difficulty I chose to test Soviet Dawn Beta Test Ausf. C (Difficulty = Normal + Weather + Fog of war + Supply, the same as for Soviet Dawn Beta Test Ausf. A & B):

No, this is a sort of introduction so that I remember my settings for the chosen difficulty.

I started the test by playing without interruption and the crash came as soon as the second scenario(Vyazma 1941) in turn 7 of the AI.
I was just able to do a screenshoot before the return on the desktop but the screenshoot is not very informative (the fight did not take place at this place):

So no error message was created by the game, like the one with the memory error ?

I haven’t seen one but it looks a lot like the memory bug because it happens at about the same time. On the other hand it would be the first time that this bug appeared during AI turn for my part.

Unit history

Unit history seems disabled in this beta Ausf. C (?)
I have noted this for the moment in the scenarios Stalingrad-Uranus and Kursk-Kutuzov. If you click on the Unit history, nothing happens...

Ok, finally it works if you do not click on the icons! Just pass the mouse very slowly over the icons (the icons are very small):

Kursk-Kutuzov

Why does the city of Ponyri have a red circle?
I don’t see any objectives on the side of the player or the side of the enemy

The turn limit (11 turns) does not correspond to the day limit (10 days) :

It could also have a flag.

There is an option to change message colors and add flags in the editor - if you want to make your own campaign, that is.

In AA there is the same system - messages about political events (like the Soviet-British alliance in 1941) have a background in Axis color and everything related to Soviet activities has background in the Soviet color. Intelligence and event reports have neutral background and no flag - but it can be changed to Soviet colors adding the flag.

It is subjective, the same message can be neutral or not according to the wording.

It depends on what you want. You can make the victory messages red and with Soviet flags, after all, this is a Soviet campaign.

For the 1941 campaign I will use this system:

Political events of the Eastern Front - either Soviet or Axis flags (or a historical photo) in either Soviet or Axis colors, depending of who is mentioned in the message.
The message on arrival of the Polizei Division also has Axis colors with a German flag.
(because it is not an Army unit)
Military events, like destroying bridges or sending reinforcements - green neutral (color of the field uniform) with either Soviet or Axis flags, depending on who blows bridges or sends reinforcements.

Military events in other theaters like North Africa - Allied green background with either Allied flags or historical photos if they are in data base.

Ad you said, it is all subjective. I would say, if you take Minsk, that would be a message in Soviet colors with a Soviet flag. You can decide what to do with other messages like this one, they could also be in the Soviet color.
The art of war is simple and esay to understand but fighting a war is hard.

The turn limit (11 turns) does not correspond to the day limit (10 days) :
In some games (for example PanzerCorps), we can settle Days per turn or Turns per day but not in Germany at War: Barbarossa 1941 game.
Days and turns should therefore match perfectly in Germany at War: Barbarossa 1941 game(1 day = 1 turn or 1 turn = 1 day).

Hi terminator,

indeed in Germany at War turns are always days. I think its a similar issue (or the very same) as we have with turns in general. Will look at it again as soon as timing issue is resolved.

Kursk-Rumiantsev

This unit of Partisans is placed directly at the location of the Bunker Garrison(red arrow). The game then chooses a free hex nearby.
This unit of Partisans is immediately in contact with the enemy and surrounded in this case!

PS: I corrected the titles of my previous posts where I had mixed Kutuzov with Rumiantsev for Kursk.
