SPWaW is a tactical squad-level World War II game on single platoon or up to an entire battalion through Europe and the Pacific (1939 to 1945).

About C&C and armot penetration . etc.

Post by General Mayhem »

I have just started to play WOW after lot of
playing with SP3 and I have few questions.
I love the limited intel option how it works and other stuff that make game feel
pretty realistic(as games can be). Seems to work really well. Few things however bit bother me.

How many uses C&C? What do you think at it generally? I don't use with WOW(but with SP3 I do), I'd like to use it, but not only it is bit restrictive I found I lose units far too easily. Just today I tried to begin assault with few panzers and but I lost two tanks which I could not move forward but backwards only despite I was supposedly lacking orders?

Is there something wrong with armour peneration? I found I can with 2/3(rough estimation) shots from Sherman with 76 mm
gun destroy Tiger tanks from front at
ranges of 2-4 hexes. Shouldn't Tiger
armor be able to deflect them?
Also US 57 mm AT gun seems also to penetrate Tigers side hull easily at 3-5 hexes. At overall, no chance of Tiger fear here.
Seem to be more like nice kittens than Tigers. :D

As I started WW II campaign beginning from
Normandy I also couldn't use rockets from
ambhibious ships I purchased. None was apparent in the bombardment menu despite units were in the map. A bug?

As reference 5.01 is my version and I ran it under Windows 2000.

Hi,

about C&C: check the forum´s search function. I did that too and it helped a lot. You will find anything you want to know. There has been a lot of discussion on this subject.

About the "Kittens": There have been many threads before on this subject as well.
The conclusion that came out was:
Tigers are excellent long range weapons but are dead meat if it comes to close combat.
´Cause it´s strenght lays in it´s gun not in it´s armor.

Hope that helps.

Hey I liked Braveheart especially the guy who owned Ireland

You've got to remember to set objectives. Once you do and once you get used to them, you'll find that C&C isn't that much of a difference. At least that is my experience.

Hope that helps.
