Welcome aboard Bilbon. You have made a life changing choice if you stick with this game. As for tutorials, in the area above where you will see this thread that we are writing in you will see "Top: Some Basic Training Video Tutorials", open that thread and start there. That should be a good start! Enjoy....

Read this AAR: Sardaukar's Newbie Tutorial AAR for Newbies (vs. IJ AI)

As you read it, copy its moves and recommendations in your own game as the allies against the AI. You will learn much of the basics and interface through this. Beyond that, simply play the game and ask questions here in this forum as they come up. Try out the smaller scenarios like Coral Sea and Guadalcanal.

Well and if your are crazy enough an you will get plenty of time for christmas try Kull's Spreadsheet :D

I started a GC as allied player (first one) during november - I found Kull's spread and it was something I would call a transcendent experience. When you suffer all the way until the end - you may have a true understanding what you can do during the game. If possible try to write an AAR (and avoid it to become delayed) - so many helpful members of this forum will help you!

Thx for you're help guys. I started the game as the japanese. I founded it weird i had nothing to do in the first turn, the AI took everything in charge, i was only a spectator. Do you have any tips when you pay for the Japs?

I very rarely pay for Japs. I generally either kill them or send them to certain death for the glory of the Emperor, i.e. me.[:D] [:D][:D]

Now, speaking about your issue. You have selected from game options the historical 1st turn, in which both players just do whatever is already planned at the beginning.
You need to deselect that option in order to be able to give orders on 7th Dec.

On a side note, I strongly advise you against playing Japan since it's way more challenging than playing Allied side. Also, you should probably begin with few scenarios such as Guadalcanal or the Coral Sea one.

But I'm the last one who can speak: I begun directly with Japan in PBEM ahahahahah

The first and mandatory step is to start the smaller scenarios: Coral Sea to start with; if you have started any bigger scenario, you may make a favor to yourself and save, stop it and open the smallest one;

I came from Uncommon Valor to old WITP so I had some knowledge of how things worked. Instead of a smaller scenario, I played a month of the grand campaign. Made a bunch of mistakes, learned from them and then restarted. The benefit of this approach is that you get to learn the map as well.

Starting first grand campaign as Japan would be drowning in deep end.. [:D] Running Japanese economy is almost logistics game itself.

Play smaller scenarios first to get hand on mechanics.

In scenarios, feel free to play either side, to get used to either side's strengths and weaknesses.

I started the game as the japanese.

I would't recommend this unless you have had experience with massive games of this type. Running the Japanese economy is a daunting undertaking. Try the Allies first, until you become familiar with the game.
