Open Beta has begun

Germany At War: Operation Barbarossa 1941 is an elegant turn-based design, inspired by classics such as Panzer General, but with more of a historical focus. You command the German forces through a branching historical campaign covering the entire 1941 campaign as well as part of the 1942 campaign. Dozens of scenarios stretch from the Soviet border all the way to Archangel and towards Astrakhan, the original military goals of Operation Barbarossa. Step into a wargame where your performance will rewrite history, through an addictive combination of compelling gameplay, realistic events and challenging battles.

Ronald,

Thanks for the new beta. I tried it and the game crashed to the desktop when I went to end the first turn. I've attached the game logs.

Riga 1941 Scenario :

found the error and fixed it. Will be included in Ausf.E. Thanks for reporting this flaw which was not noticed by anyone since the map was in the game (probably 2012) [;)]

thanks for your report. Sadly the log you send is not helping. We would need a screenshot of an error message if the game produces one as well as data about your machine. Note that 1.09 is not running on 32-bit machines anymore.

Hi folks,

as of this moment Ausf. E is live and can be downloaded via the link in the first post of this thread.

All who had memory issues please try this version as it contains a new fix. Also the timing of briefing and panel for thee turns needs to be checked in as many maps as possible.

Thanks for all who contributed to this release.

Option "Movement speed" :

I am testing the latest beta version and I wanted to set the Option "Movement speed" to be able to see the enemy movements calmly but it is not very simple because the cursor is much too sensitive: move the cursor a little to the left and the movements become much too slow, move the cursor a little to the right and the movements become much too fast. Maybe just a tune-up to do?

Here is the setting I managed to get :

Construction Engineer Bug :

This is a bug I noticed in the Smolensk 1943 scenario (Beta Ausf. E) with the objectives of repairing bridges.
Bridge repairs requires 20 resources. With only 11 resources available after strengthening other units, it should no longer be possible to repair a bridge. Yet the wrench symbol is still there(unfortunately impossible to see on a screenshot) making believe that it is possible to repair the bridge with only 11 remaining resources.
It seems that the possibility of repairing the bridge is only tested at the beginning of the scenario (?)

Well, its a bit tricky to determine whats "too fast" or "too slow" for you, or anyone via text i think. Seeing it in a video or simultaneously onscreen would make this easier. This way its not only very subjective (which it always is to a degree), but also hard to adjust.

Construction Engineer Bug :

Well it costs 10 Resources, so no bug in that. But the help has a wrong figure and that's where the glitch is. Thanks for reporting.

Hi terminator,

you are absolutely right, repairing bridges costs 20 resources. I looked up the value for movement by rail thus creating some confusion here. So the help will be fixed again. Sorry for that.

What remains is, that you have been able to geet the repair for less - could you provide the savegame of that turn, please ? Thanks.

Hi terminator,

sorry i forgot to answer this. The prices reflect an ingame balancing, not actual historical costs. In fact the costs for many machines went down on the Soviet side due to standardisation of certain elements of the production. IIRC the T-34 price and resource need went down so the better machines were cheaper to make. Anyway the resources you see in Germany at War are linked to the game values and can not be compared to historical costs. Hope this helps.

Hi folks,

finally after many obstacles including some health issues have been overcome, you get Ausf. F today. Get the new version via the updated link in the first post of this thread.

Thanks to all you invested their valuable time and efforts to make this version as polished as it is!

Hi folks,

so there were no new bug reports this far. That means i set a deadline to next Friday (3.April) now. If there is no big issue appearing until then, i will complete the package of 1.09 and hand it over to the guys at Matrix.
