The lark, signing its chirping hymn,
Soars high above the clouds;
Meanwhile, the nightingale intones
With sweet, mellifluous sounds.
Enough of Stalin, Freedom for the Ukraine !

In mainland Europe things are falling apart fast. Only good news are that Eisenhower got killed in action but that wont change much. Struggling to make a line at all not enough units. Hard to tell how long I can last. Fast advance might make supply situation a bit diffficult maybe but I doubt it will help enough.

Game is opening up, kill 13 units this turn and I thought Yugoslavia should have surrendered but no notification.
I notice that fighters don't give air cover to bombers intercepting Naval units, doesn't seem right.

Very cool game. Its not over yet - but still thanks to both for playing into this later stage of the game that one seldom sees in an AAR. Making it into the 2nd half of 1943 is a respectable outcome in any case.
Once it is over I would be interested to learn what you both think were the main contributing factors for the outcome (game balance, individual mistakes, luck - such as bad weather and poor rolls in key battles etc).

I just realised, the reason why Yugslavia didn't surrender was because it was already on my side - Axis invaded early in the game and didn't do the 'Greek' version.
Can tell you what I think the reasons for the outcome now.
MM lost a few units during the invasion of France, because of this he decided not to do a '41 Barbarossa.
That allowed the Soviets to get a lot stronger so when '42 came they were able to hold out with just moderate losses. Since then they have just been too powerful.
He has totally outplayed my Western Allies since the fall of France with invasion after invasion being defeated.

I am rather shocked this game went so far. I had one game quite a long way as Axis. Another as Allies. . . Is it possible despite being weaker in the East MagicMissile is stronger overall and devoted a lot of resources to keeping his Western Flanks clear? Hard to push on the Russians once they get those '42 bonuses and use rivers anyways plus their tech has time to catch up so it's a triple bonus xp/army-air/plus teched units?

Thank you but yes it is quite over [:)] but I always play to the end. The end was so fast here so might be fun for Tyrone to enter Berlin. If the end is slow but outcome certain then sometimes one can agree playing on is a waste of time and quit but generally I think one should play to the end.
I will absolutely write something when it is over which wont be long now. Maybe Tyrone have some input as well.

The end is nigh only a few units stand in the way to Berlin. Allied ships all over the Med. Italy barely hanging on. It thought they might survive Germany but that is doubtful now. Standstill in Morocco but that is ofc just a sideshow.
No german corps units left in France. Spanish partisans liberating Spain. Adolf not very happy [:)].

No never had many resources in the west except ofc the airforce which made a big difference. Hard for western allies if they face both Italian and German airforce to make to much headway since they themselves often fight with port supply which is not that abundant. But I don´t think it went that far. Guess it will be around 18 months ahead of history so it is a very early allied victory. I am a little shocked how easy the German army fell apart. But I will write a bit more about that after the game ended.
RE: End July
Yes, it has gone quicker than I thought once a strong front line weakens.
Italy goes next turn, just Germany and Romania left.
Part of Italy turned Soviet this turn without an invasion - Italian Communists ???

End August
Berlin hangs on, Soviets are seriously out of supply range.
And the Allies come in and grab most of Germany - just like history.

. If survive one more turn then maybe bad weather in October could prolong the pain a little bit [:)].
