Turn 4. Mar/Apr 1940. Axis #1 (concluded).

[ax] Rail. Germany x 1.
(1) von Bock HQ-I. YUG 60,46 to Brussels.

[ax] Land Move. Germany x 5.
Germany uses here five land moves to put the French 3-stack on the coast out of supply and get two armor corps adjacent to the stack so that it can be blitzed.

[ax] In the spirit of friendly gaming. [:)]
(1) Germany saved 1 land move for a possible airborne drop on the French 3-stack. But, I may or may not go through with the drop.
(2) The French MS 406 FTR2 (4 a2a) could fly CAP over the 3-stack. The Luftwaffe has a FTR2 (5 a2a) in position to intercept.
(3) Do the French wish to fly cap? (Again, I may or may not go through with the drop).

[al] No thank you

[ax] Your CAP decision actually determined whether or not I made the drop. Since you didn't fly, I will drop. (If you have flown, I wouldn't have).

[al] Right

[ax] Airborne Drop. Germany.
(1) II Para Corps dropped on French 3-stack NE of Lille.
(2) Col Student's Regiment is in the lead.
(3) German ATR returns to Liege.
(4) Do you wish to include the notional?

[al] Yes please

[ax] notional included.

[ax] KM home fleet in North Sea (4-box), adds 8 factors in shore bombardment to the blitz.

[ax] Rundstedt lends +2 in HQ support also.

[ax] Ground Support Decision.
(1) The French can fly their LeO 451 (3/2=2 TAC) escorted by their MS 406 FTR2 (4 a2a).
(2) The Luftwaffe has a Bf-109 E-2 w/5 a2a in position to counter-intercept.
(3) Do the French wish to fly?

[al] What are the odds?

[ax] 43:13, +10.923 blitz as it now stands.

[al] Sure, fly with FTR support
Fight until bomber is through or aborted

[ax] copy that.

[ax] The Luftwaffe intercepts.

[ax] Air-to-Air. Belgium 51,30 (the second air battle over this ground this impulse)
(1) Axis +1, Allied -1.
(2) Allied, D10=10, no axis bomber to clear.
(3) Axis, D10=10, French bomber cleared. [:(]

[al] abort to where they came from

[ax] copy that.

[ax] German Bf 109 E-2 returns to Belgium 53, 22.

[ax] French add 2-factors in defensive ground support.
French fighter and bomber returned to from whence they came.

[ax] Land Combat. Germany. Belgium [51,30] +10 Blitz.
(1) No fractional.
(2) 2D10=13, result=23.
(3) Defending units are shattered. Not sure it matters but which 2 to destroy (4-4 mtn, 4-3 inf, 2-3 at div)?

[al] keep the MTN

[ax] copy that.

[ax] This ends my impulse at the HQ reorg phase.

[ax] JvR-04-MA40-AX01-eoi.zip game turn sent.

[al] Two CW subs goes into the Italian Coast
[al] A US TRS is sent back San Diego from Hawaii

[al] CW does not initiate in the Italian Coast
[al] USSR tries to find convoys in the Japanese Coast
Image

[al] a 6 is rolled, no combat
[ax] That's a relief.
[al] Am I right to understand that it could cause a diplomatic scandal if those convoys are destroyed?
[ax] Only if the US doesn't meet their requirement. If Japan doesn't then the US is not obliged to send the required resources and keep them for herself.
[ax] If the US doesn't, I think you would lose 2 chits per turn from the Japanese entry pool until corrected.
[ax] And of course if you don't have the 2 chits to lose then the US could never DOW Japan.
[ax] So, Japan failing to have the necessary CPs in place is not nearly as bad as the US not having them.
[al] Right, well not this time at least [:)]

[al] No strategic bombardment

[al] 1 Hurricane as a F/B bombs the hex NE of Lille and a Fairey LND bombs the hex east of Lille
[al] Rolls for hex NE of Lille: 9, 8 and 3. No flipping.
