Fuzzypup vs Hadros

Post by AlvaroSousa »

Now we are in 2 mirror games. The one I am axis just started

In my Allied game.
Hadros is a sneaky bastard!!

He did fine in Poland.
He took a bit to take France out but got them in 1940. I think he learned some lessons from my desperate counter attacks into his units and got more aggressive.

We had a fierce battle over Narvik when I reinforced the position. He send enough guys up there to force me out.

He sent the German fleet north of the UK,so I patrolled out a screen force. He split them and invaded England at Glasgow 129,70. But I have him bottled up and the port shut down.

Sub war has been what expected. It is getting late 1940. Overall again I am pleased with the balance and results. in 3 games that have gone to 1940 with luck variance I feel the Allies are falling within the expected parameters.

I am having a blast and I thought I would be bored playing my own game. But this is fun as hell. I feel like I am playing chess or poker trying to figure out my opponent.

I have played so many countless partial games testing. I am surprised I am enjoying it as much as I am. I can see why people buy it. [:D][:D]

This game has turned into a lot of fun. I am helping Hadros learn the game. Only 1 game running right now that is late in the war so I will only comment on that.

Me as Allies.
Unlike the Battlevonwar game which is very calculated Hadros is playing as unpredictable as Loki. He has made a few minor invasions here and there. Taken Iceland. Invaded Syria, made a serious push for Alexandria and has started Barbarossa. In Russia he committed to cutting off Murmansk and has done so. He is near the historical line just as October is coming. The match in Russia has been incredibly exciting feeling like the actual battles of 1941. Hadros keeps moving his panzers to different positions taking shots at different objectives. He is rotating his troops to keep my guessing where he is going. At some points I was able to counter attack successfully in this chaotic Russian front. He has successfully surrounded about 8 corps so far in 3 groups. I suspect by the time winter comes both armies will be exhausted.

I will admit this Russian front as the Allies was more fun than mine with Battlevonwar. I really have to think ahead of Hadros's random advance.

His Egypy move is costing him as I am advancing with the UK and attacking over extended Axis forces and using naval supply to keep them going. The sub war is going fair as Hadros hasn't had a full commitment to it.

Overall I think the game is going fun. He is using all the meta-strategies which is great. It lets me see how to respond and what to do. His mini-invasions are more of a nuisance than anything else but nothing that can't be contained and dealt with.

We started a me Axis game. I took the Spain route after France to test out this game plan and see how it plays out for balance.

I forgot to post here in a while. This game has really gone well. Germany vs Russia from 1941-1943 was a blood bath so large both of us are running out of men. He managed to get as far as Yaroslavl in the North, Moscow in the middle, and almost took Rostov in the South. Allies pretty much went historical.

I am the Allies in this picture.

Currently it is May 19th 1944. Axis have put all their airforce in Italy which is really giving me headaches. The Red Air Force and Western Allied Air Force have complete air supremacy over their theaters. D-Day just landed. This game is going to come down to the wire. It has been incredibly fun and made me realize just how much the Western Allies have to buy which includes naval groups. I couple times I was short on transports and landing craft. His uboat war didn't go so well vs me and he lost a lot of armor in Russia in 41-42. I think this game will be close. The Allies are technically behind the historical curve. The Axis will win by victory points alone if he survives. I have to completely conquer him to win.

The game where I am the Axis it is 1943. Germany has 3/4 or French North Africa, is about 6-7 hexes East of Tripoli, holds Spain and Gibraltar (Allies have invaded), and in Russia the Leningrad, Vitebsk, Kiev line. Axis took Spain in 1941 and invaded Russia in 1942 to form a strong defensive line to hold.
