Picking up ordinances

Post by kirkoa »

Sorry if I am missing this elsewhere, but how can I get a half squad to pick up a bazooka in the same hex? I am playing the La Fiere Causeway campaign and I need a half squad to pick up one so I can get rid of the Pz 35s lol

Hi. Once you enter the hex, you should see a 'Recover SW' button appear in the right-hand pane. Click that to attempt a recovery. This will cost 1MP, and technically, you should be able to make more than one attempt, each costing 1MP; although, if the first attempt doesn't work, additional attempts don't seem to help. Alternatively, such attempts are also, automatically made any time during each Rally Phase. Also, you can only attempt to pickup your own SW's, not enemy ones.

rmmwilg, there's one thing I would differ from your answer to kirkoa's question. A squad,
half-squad or leader can pick up an abandoned support weapon anytime the unit(s) enters
that hex in the MOVEMENT PHASE (only) and you select 'Recover SW' but it won't cost any
MF's. You can try ONCE for EACH unit (without an SW) in the same hex. A squad can use its
entire movement factors of 4 hexes and on that 4th hex attempt to pick up the SW. It's a freebie.
There is no cost to do so. So, besides the no cost to pick up the SW, everything else is just
fine.[:)]

One more thing for kirkoa, most of the time I've noticed that 'Recover SW' button will
not appear so if I have a unit in the same hex as the SW and not see the 'Recover SW'
button, just tap the stack in that hex with your mouse and the button will appear.[;)]

That also applies to entering an 'Exit Hex'. I've moved units to an "exit hex' and not
see the "Exit Unit" button appear until after I tap the stack in the 'Exit Hex'. It's
a minor bug.[:D]

And one more thing for kirkoa. You titled the start of this string as
"Picking up ordinances". I failed to mention that only crew units can
man an ordinance weapon. Procedure is the same except it won't be allowed
for non-crew units. [;)]

Oh. Maybe I'm thinking ASL then. I'll have to check it out again in TotH. Good to know [8D]
