[Logged] Aircraft not following WRA v1.02

Post by duelok11 »

Hi, I would like to report a bug that makes my aircraft not following the WRA that I have set for the specific strike mission of the aircraft as shown in the picture below. As you can see, the aircraft launched its spice 1000 bomb at 36000 ft max weapon range while its WRA Automatic fire for the specific weapon is set to 5nm from the target.

Here is the save game file of the scenario that is shown in the image below.

Observation:
The Spice did launch from too far. This may be related to a defect that was found recently in regard to strike missions as it played thru on a dev build retaining the correct launch parameter.

Needs investigation though

Observation:
I played forward on the save, and I noticed that the flight path of one of the groups attacking with the bombs changed suddenly; the weapon launch point was near the targets, but after a couple of change of course due to SAM attacks, the flight path weapon launch point was near where is was evading the SAMs (a long way from the original point).
The WRA is used to set these way-points initially for the mission.
Example

BTW, the above flight actually did manage to survive and fire its Spice at the weapon point (5nm from target).

So, is there anything that I should correct or should I reload from my save when the planes are not yet departing to set the WRA for them to follow it?

I tried this on my build which is a DEV one. I thought I was using the current release version.
It does need investigation as my build seemed to keep the launch parameter. This may have something to do with investigation in a different strike mission issue.

Did you change the WRA Firing range after the strike mission took off? I'm playing around with the settings - I unassigned the Shogun 7 flight, and reassigned it to Strike4, and it didn't fire off the Spice at the 250 range.

Yes, but I think that works for me the last time I play command a few months ago.

I manage to follow the advise that you have given by setting the WRA before the strike but only the IP point created by 1 of my 2 squadrons from the strike is at the 5nm distance, so I didn't know if the other squadron will still fire the spike at 30nm range. But it is still fixable by unassigning and reassigning the affected units to the said strike mission.

Delving some more into the save.

So you have manually allocated the weapons to the targets rather than let the AI do the attack normally?
The Weapon Allocation screen shows that the WRA is limiting the automatic weapon fire, but you have overridden that to fire the weapon when in normal range.

I did not manually allocate weapons to that strike because I already knew that the automatic allocation of weapons is already fixed and just allocate the right amount of weapons based on the target's missile defence value

They are marked as manually allocated which means that they were created either 'manually' or when the WRA was satisfied.
I took the save and de-allocated the weapons on Dragon flight and the flight closed in on target to fire the Spice like the Farmer flight (which didn't have any allocations).
I think it is working properly.

Will try and follow your advise to see the results, Thank you.
