Logistic layer questions

I'm trying to understand the used logistic layer. What do the numbers off road mean? I know if the dotted line is green, there is enough op points to do 100% supply, then yellow and so on. But for each hex that that is traced back to the road there is a number. I dont think this refers to used logistic points?

Oh, I think it references supplies sent.

Stuff moving across the supply network*, use up logistics every single hex they move.
Meanwhile however the Truck Points do decay over distance, get refocussed, unevenly split, etc.

*Note that some stuff moves for free. Assets do not actually consume any logistics points, only need enough passing through them. And depending on the use, Food, Water, Fuel and Power can travel for free.
