Mix and match weapons

Post by Whitley, Grant »

Is it possible to design a scenario and have a squad(or squads) with a non-standard weapon without it being necessary for folks to install a separate OOB in order to play?

Could I for example have an Italian airborne squad armed with Kar98k rifles and Thompson SMGs?

re-arm them with some weapons already in the Italian OOB .. k98 should be there.

How to do this you'll find in the manual ..

I saw a section detailing how to do this with the Chlanda editor, but it gives me weird OOB error messages and won't load the weapons data. Is it possible to to this from the scenario editor?

This is able to be done, as long as you don't physically alter the oob's existing structure, from what everyone else has. Hope this helps. Oh, about Chlanda's edoitor, VERY important to point to the directory of the oob's, or the weapons won't load, this is probably what you did!!

I tried using the "locate OOB" function to load the OOBs manually, but it still won't load the weapons names. Exactly how do you go about swapping weapons in the SPWAW scenario editor? I can't find anything referring to this in the manual.

Select the unit you want to change weapons.
Press the "D" key, and the unit menu comes up.
At the top are 4 buttons marked "Weapon 1", "Weapon 2", "Weapon 3", and "Weapon 4".
Click on the weapon slot you want to change, and a screen appears with all the weapons available in that oob.
Find the one you want to use, and enter the number.
Next, enter the ammo values for HE, AP, Smoke, APCR, and HEAT.

Now that unit is carrying the weapon you want it to.
Do this for each weapon slot you want to change.
Each unit has to be changed this way.....there is no way to "equip" all the troops on one side other than by doing one unit at a time.

Fidel, to change an Italians weapons to German, select the nation button to German, then go back into the deploy screen, and do as flashfyre said, that will fix you up!! I haven't checked Freds editor recently, it is entirely possible that a new version might make the program not be able to work, if something got changed!! I'll check it tonite.

Hmm, I know it still worked with v.5.01, so I'll check later, probably as suspected some change in the oob :(
