Quick Supply question

Fury Games has now signed with Matrix Games, and we are working together on the next Strategic Command. Will use the Slitherine PBEM++ server for asynchronous multi-player.

Quick Supply question

Post by OpT1mUs »

Can somebody explain why are the circled hexes on the screenshot at Supply 10 instead of 9?
Bonus question: Why can't I see Italian land supply at all? I only see their see supply.

In that example, Konigsberg port gives supply 10 to all adjacent land hexes.

Italian supply probably isn't visible because they're not in the war yet and supply is only shown on your side's territory.

Ok I get that, but why? Do ports work differently supply wise? If the port is providing 10 supply, wouldn't hexes next to it be on 9? Why is hex north of the port on 9?

That hex is being supplied from Konigsberg rather than from the port. There is no land connection between them.

Ports do indeed work differently. They give their supply value to adjacent land hexes. While land resources give their supply value to their own hex only. So ports are in a sense better.

Yes, we changed this a while back because no land unit will ever be in a port, so land units were never receiving optimum supply from ports.

It only makes a difference in some areas, but can be of importance when it does apply.

Can someone explain why the hex to the right of Memel only has a supply of 9? I would assume it is an adjacent land hex.

It doesn't show very well in that screen shot, but that's a marsh hex there on the Nieman River. Marsh hexes tend to diminish supply numbers.

I have to say I'm a bit confused by this. If ports simply give their supply rating to all adjacent land hexes, this on should have a 10. But it doesn't - it looks like the port hex itself has land supply 11, and the adjacent hexes with move value 1 have supply 10, and this hex because of the marsh has supply 9.

If one puts a mountain next to a port, I wonder what happens...

Yes, to simplify the calculations (just to work more easily with how the code is setup on my end) that was how I implemented it, e.g. the port would be 10 + 1 in that case and supply for the adjacent land hexes derived from that which explains why the marsh hex has 9 supply.

That makes sense, thank you. [:)]
